대한민국을 대표하는 화훼 축제인 고양국제꽃박람회가 오는 4월 24일부터 5월 10일까지 17일간 일산호수공원 일원에서 화려하게 펼쳐진다. 

1997년 첫 개최 이후 누적 관람객 900만 명을 돌파한 이번 박람회는 ‘꽃, 시간을 물들이다’를 주제로 약 25만㎡ 규모의 공간을 다채로운 꽃과 정원 예술로 채운다.

올해 박람회는 과거와 현재, 미래를 아우르는 ‘시간여행’ 콘셉트의 야외 정원이 중심이다. 

주제 광장에는 한국 전통 천문기구인 혼천의를 모티브로 한 높이 13m의 대형 조형물이 설치되어 시선을 압도한다. 

회전하는 구형 꽃 조형물은 시간의 흐름을 상징적으로 표현하며 관람객들에게 독특한 몰입감을 제공한다.

메타세쿼이아 길을 활용한 공중형 구조의 ‘빛담정원’과 MBTI 및 퍼스널 컬러를 접목한 ‘마음의 온도 정원’은 참여형 콘텐츠로 구성돼 특히 젊은 세대의 관심을 끌 것으로 기대된다. 

또한 ‘화답하라 1997’ 등 복고풍 테마 공간은 세대를 아우르는 공감과 향수를 자극한다.

행사장 곳곳에서는 색다른 체험 프로그램도 마련된다.

장미원에서는 2030 세대를 위한 ‘로테이션 소개팅’ 프로그램이 진행되며, 어린이날을 전후해 인기 캐릭터 펭수를 활용한 ‘펭수의 꽃놀이 정원’이 조성된다. 

특히 5월 1일에는 펭수가 현장을 직접 찾을 예정으로 가족 단위 방문객들에게 특별한 즐거움을 선사할 전망이다.

실내 화훼교류관에서는 세계적 수준의 화예 예술과 희귀 식물을 만날 수 있다. 

‘플로럴 오디세이(Floral Odyssey)’ 전시에서는 벨기에, 러시아, 스페인 등 5개국 정상급 화예 작가들이 참여해 ‘기억의 색채’를 주제로 독창적인 작품 세계를 선보인다. 

이와 함께 ‘엘사 튤립’, 지름 15cm 이상의 대형 다알리아, 길이 1.2m에 달하는 자이언트 장미 등 쉽게 접하기 어려운 희귀 식물들도 전시된다.

관람객이 직접 참여할 수 있는 ‘시드볼 만들기’ 체험은 산불 피해 지역 복원을 돕는 친환경 캠페인으로 의미를 더한다.

박람회 기간 동안 수변무대와 버스킹 공연장에서는 다양한 문화 프로그램이 이어진다. 

고양시립합창단 공연을 비롯해 가수 김다현의 무대, 치어리딩, 시니어 패션쇼 등 세대를 아우르는 공연이 펼쳐지며, 호수 위를 달리는 수상꽃자전거 체험도 관람객들에게 특별한 즐길 거리를 제공한다.

입장료는 일반 1만5천 원, 우대 1만2천 원이며, 고양시민과 대중교통 이용객, 다자녀 가정에는 추가 할인 혜택이 주어진다.
