고양특례시가 미래 세대를 위한 생태 교육에 본격적인 시동을 걸었다.

고양특례시는 지난 6일 다솜초등학교 4학년 6반 학생들을 대상으로 ‘찾아가는 장항습지 생태교육’의 첫 수업을 진행했다고 밝혔다. 

이번 교육은 2021년 5월 람사르 습지로 지정된 장항습지의 생태적 가치와 환경 보전의 중요성을 학생들에게 알리기 위해 마련됐다.

‘찾아가는 장항습지 생태교육’은 자연환경해설사가 학교 교실을 직접 방문하는 방식으로 운영되는 것이 특징이다.

학생들이 이동 없이도 생생한 생태 교육을 접할 수 있어 현장 중심의 학습 효과를 높였다는 평가를 받고 있다.

이날 첫 수업에서는 장항습지의 주요 기능과 생태적 가치에 대한 이론 교육이 진행됐으며, 철새와 식물 모형 등 다양한 교구를 활용한 체험 학습이 함께 이루어졌다. 

또한 프레젠테이션과 실습 활동을 통해 습지 생태계를 보다 입체적으로 이해할 수 있도록 구성됐다.

수업에 참여한 학생들은 높은 집중력과 적극적인 참여로 교육에 임했다. 

자연환경해설사는 “학생들이 수업 내내 열심히 필기하며 관심을 보였다”며 “직접 장항습지를 방문하고 싶다는 의견도 많아 향후 현장 체험으로 이어지길 기대한다”고 전했다.

고양특례시는 이번 첫 수업을 시작으로 관내 초등학교를 대상으로 순회 교육을 확대할 계획이다. 

4월부터 5월까지는 일산동구, 6월부터 7월까지는 일산서구, 9월부터 11월까지는 덕양구 지역 초등학교를 중심으로 교육이 진행될 예정이다.

한편, 람사르 고양 장항습지생태관은 다양한 교육 및 체험 프로그램을 운영하고 있으며, 참여를 원하는 시민은 장항습지 누리집을 통해 사전 예약 후 이용할 수 있다. 

이번 프로그램을 통해 학생들이 자연과 환경의 소중함을 체득하고, 지속 가능한 미래를 위한 환경 의식을 키워나갈 것으로 기대된다.

The program was also designed to facilitate a more three-dimensional understanding of the wetland ecosystem through presentations and practical activities.

The students participating in the class engaged with high levels of concentration and active participation.

A nature guide remarked, "The students showed great interest, taking diligent notes throughout the class," adding, "Many expressed a desire to visit Janghang Wetland in person, so we look forward to future field experiences."

Starting with this first class, Goyang Special City plans to expand its itinerant education program to elementary schools within its jurisdiction.

The program is scheduled to focus on elementary schools in Ilsan Dong-gu from April to May, Ilsan Seo-gu from June to July, and Deogyang-gu from September to November.
