한국농어촌공사 고양지사가 4월 10일 행주양수장 통수를 시작으로 본격적인 농업용수 공급에돌입했다. 

이번 조치는 본격적인 영농철을 앞두고 안정적인 용수 확보를 통해 고양시 농업 기반을 뒷받침하기 위한 선제적 대응으로 평가된다.

행주산성 인근에 위치한 행주양수장에서 취수된 한강 물은 행주외동과 토당동을 지나 일산동구 백석동과 장항동 일대 농경지로 공급된다.

이어 고양 호수공원 인근을 거쳐 일산서구 대화동, 덕이동, 가좌동, 구산동, 법곳동 등 고양시 전역의 농지로 흘러들어가며, 총 2,908헥타르에 달하는 농경지에 오는 9월까지 안정적인 급수가 이어질 전망이다.

고양지사는 최근 국제 정세에 따른 에너지 수급 불안에 대응해 ‘농업용수 공급예고제’를 시행한다. 

이 제도는 사전에 용수 공급 일정을 안내함으로써 불필요한 펌프 가동을 최소화하고, 농업인의 자발적인 물 절약 참여를 유도하는 데 목적이 있다.

아울러 기후 변화로 인한 가뭄 등 각종 재난 상황에도 선제적으로 대응할 수 있도록 시설물 관리 체계를 강화했다.
