고양특례시가 지난 14일 동국대학교 바이오메디캠퍼스에서 ‘2026년 고양특례시 신중년캠퍼스’ 상반기 과정의 막을 올리며 신중년 세대의 새로운 도전에 힘을 보탰다.

이번 개강식에는 50세부터 64세까지의 신중년 교육생 130명이 참석해 인생 2막을 향한 배움의 의지를 다졌다. 

고양특례시 신중년캠퍼스는 은퇴 전후 시기를 맞은 시민들이 새로운 삶을 설계하고 자기계발을 이어갈 수 있도록 지원하는 전문 평생교육 프로그램으로, 실질적인 역량 강화와 사회 참여 확대를 목표로 운영된다.

이동환 시장은 축사를 통해 “그동안 마음속에만 담아두었던 도전을 실행에 옮긴 여러분의 용기에 깊이 박수를 보낸다”며 “이번 캠퍼스 과정이 단순한 지식 습득을 넘어 자신을 돌아보고 새로운 가능성을 발견하는 의미 있는 전환점이 되기를 바란다”고 말했다.

교육 과정은 공통 과정인 ‘신중년 건강 증진 솔루션’을 시작으로, 지역 내 4개 대학과의 협력을 통해 실용 중심의 특화 프로그램으로 이어진다. 

참여 대학은 농협대학교, 동국대학교, 중부대학교, 한국항공대학교로, 각 대학의 전문 인프라를 활용한 교육이 진행된다.

교육생들은 도시농업 텃밭 과정, 스피치 지도사 자격증 취득 과정, 정리수납 전문가 과정, 자기 탐색 인문학 교실, 탄소중립 코디네이터 양성 과정, SW·AI 퍼실리테이터 양성 과정 등 다양한 분야 중 하나를 선택해 해당 대학에서 직접 수강하며 실무 능력을 키우게 된다.

고양특례시는 오는 8월까지 상반기 교육을 마무리한 뒤, 하반기 참여자를 추가 모집해 12월까지 프로그램을 이어갈 계획이다. 

시는 앞으로도 신중년 세대가 축적해온 사회적 경험을 바탕으로 새로운 전문성을 확보하고, 제2의 인생을 활기차게 설계할 수 있도록 지속적인 지원을 확대해 나간다는 방침이다.

On the 14th, Goyang Special City kicked off the first half of the ‘2026 Goyang Special City New Senior Campus’ at Dongguk University’s Biomed Campus, lending support to the new challenges of the new senior generation.

130 new senior trainees aged 50 to 64 attended the opening ceremony, reaffirming their determination to learn for the second act of their lives.

The Goyang Special City New Senior Campus is a specialized lifelong education program designed to support citizens entering the pre- and post-retirement stages in designing new lives and continuing self-development. It operates with the goal of practical capacity building and expanded social participation. In his congratulatory remarks, Mayor Lee Dong-hwan said, “I deeply applaud your courage in putting into action the challenges you had kept only in your hearts until now,” adding, “I hope this campus course serves as a meaningful turning point where you go beyond mere knowledge acquisition to reflect on yourselves and discover new possibilities.”

The educational curriculum begins with the common course, ‘Health Promotion Solution for the New Middle-Aged,’ and continues with specialized, practice-oriented programs through cooperation with four local universities.

The participating universities are Nonghyup University, Dongguk University, Joongbu University, and Korea Aerospace University, and the training will be conducted utilizing each university’s specialized infrastructure.

Trainees will develop practical skills by selecting one of various fields—such as urban farming garden courses, speech instructor certification courses, professional organization and storage courses, humanities classes for self-exploration, carbon neutrality coordinator training, and SW/AI facilitator training—and taking courses directly at the respective universities.

Goyang Special City plans to complete the first half of the training by this coming August, and then recruit additional participants for the second half to continue the program until December. The city plans to continue expanding support so that the middle-aged generation can acquire new expertise based on the social experience they have accumulated and design a vibrant second life.
