파주시가 시민들의 오랜 숙원 사업인 ‘서해선 운정역 연장 사업’의 5월 착공을 앞두고 막바지 준비에 속도를 내고 있다. 

본격적인 공사 돌입을 앞두고 현장 점검에 나서며 사업의 안전성과 완성도를 동시에 끌어올리겠다는 의지를 분명히 했다.

파주시는 지난 15일 사업 대상지를 찾아 공사 전반에 대한 준비 상황을 집중 점검했다. 

이번 점검은 착공 이후 발생할 수 있는 위험 요소를 사전에 차단하고, 공정 일정에 차질이 없도록 하기 위한 선제적 조치다. 

현장에는 김경일 파주시장을 비롯한 관계 공무원들이 참석해 사업 추진 경과와 향후 계획을 공유받고, 주요 공정별 대응 방안도 함께 논의했다.

김 시장은 “서해선 운정역 연장은 파주 시민의 교통 편의를 획기적으로 개선할 핵심 인프라 사업”이라며 “관계기관과 긴밀히 협력해 단 한 건의 안전사고 없이 계획대로 완공될 수 있도록 모든 행정력을 집중하겠다”고 강조했다.

해당 사업은 현재 모든 사전 절차를 마치고 착공을 위한 마지막 단계에 들어섰다.

시공사 선정이 완료된 상태로, 오는 5월 중 본격적인 공사가 시작될 예정이다.

사업은 국가철도공단이 위수탁 협약에 따라 설계와 시공을 맡아 추진하며, 파주시와 한국철도공사(KORAIL)가 협력 체계를 구축해 함께 진행한다.

서해선 운정역 연장은 현재 일산역까지만 운행 중인 전동열차 노선을 운정역까지 확대하는 것이 핵심이다. 

사업이 완료되면 파주 운정신도시를 비롯한 수도권 서북부 지역의 교통 접근성이 크게 개선되고, 서울 및 경기 남부권으로의 이동 시간도 단축될 것으로 기대된다.

By conducting site inspections ahead of the start of full-scale construction, the city has clearly demonstrated its commitment to simultaneously enhancing both the safety and quality of the project.

On the 15th, Paju City visited the project site to conduct an intensive inspection of the overall readiness of the construction.
