제9회 전국동시지방선거 사전투표를 하루 앞둔 지난 28일, 고양특례시장 권한대행인 박원석 제1부시장이 관내 사전투표소를 직접 방문해 최종 준비 상황을 점검하고 현장 관계자들을 격려했다.

박원석 권한대행은 이날 오후 유동 인구가 많아 혼잡이 예상되는 역세권 사전투표소 2개소를 차례로 찾았다.

점검 대상은 일산동구청에 마련된 마두1동 사전투표소와 창조혁신캠퍼스 성사에 설치된 성사1동 사전투표소다.

이번 현장 점검은 사전투표 모의시험 운영 상황과 함께 유권자 이동 동선, 안내 표지판 배치 상태 등을 종합적으로 확인하기 위해 진행됐다. 

특히 장애인과 노약자 등 교통약자의 참정권 보장을 위해 휠체어 경사로 등 편의시설 설치 여부를 세심하게 살폈다.

현장을 둘러본 박 권한대행은 선거 업무를 수행 중인 직원들의 노고를 격려하며 “지하철역 인근에 위치한 투표소는 다른 지역보다 많은 유권자가 몰릴 것으로 예상되는 만큼, 이틀간의 사전투표 기간 동안 빈틈없는 선거 관리에 만전을 기해달라”고 당부했다.

이어 “업무에 임하는 직원들의 건강관리에도 각별히 유의해달라”며 현장 근무자들의 안전과 컨디션 관리도 강조했다.

또한 박 권한대행은 “시장 권한대행 체제 속에서도 선거행정 지원 업무는 한 치의 공백 없이 완벽하게 수행돼야 한다”며 “모든 유권자가 안심하고 소중한 참정권을 행사할 수 있도록 투표가 최종 마감되는 순간까지 최선을 다해달라”고 말했다.

한편 제9회 전국동시지방선거 사전투표는 5월 29일부터 30일까지 이틀간 진행된다. 

투표 시간은 오전 6시부터 오후 6시까지이며, 유권자는 주민등록증·운전면허증·여권 등 사진이 부착된 신분증을 지참하면 주소지와 관계없이 전국 모든 사전투표소에서 투표할 수 있다.
