더불어민주당 민경선 고양시장 후보가 경기 서북부 주민들의 숙원인 ‘일산대교 전면 무료화’를 강하게 촉구하며 현장 행보에 나섰다.

민 후보는 지난 28일 오전 일산대교 톨게이트 앞에서 ‘정책현장 씽씽 유세 3탄’의 일환으로 ‘일산대교 무료화 기획유세’를 열고 “반값 인하에 만족할 것이 아니라 시민들의 오랜 염원인 전면 무료화를 반드시 실현해야 한다”고 강조했다.

이날 유세에는 더불어민주당 고양정 지역구 시·도의원 후보들과 ‘일산대교 통행료 무료화 고양시 범시민 추진위원회’ 관계자 등 20여 명이 참석해 힘을 보탰다. 

현장에는 ‘일산대교 무료화’ 피켓과 현수막이 등장하며 시민들의 교통 기본권 보장을 촉구하는 목소리가 이어졌다.

민 후보는 “일산대교는 한강 교량 가운데 유일하게 통행료를 받고 있는 다리”라며 “고양·파주·김포 시민들은 오랜 기간 사실상 생활권 이동을 위해 통행료 부담을 떠안아야 했다”고 지적했다.

이어 “올해부터 통행료가 기존 1,200원에서 600원으로 인하됐지만, 이는 시민 요구의 절반만 반영된 결과”라며 “시민들이 체감할 수 있는 진정한 해결책은 전면 무료화”라고 주장했다.

특히 민 후보는 경기도의원 시절부터 일산대교 무료화 운동에 앞장서 왔다는 점도 강조했다. 

그는 당시 의회 차원의 특별위원회 구성을 촉구하고, 영하의 날씨 속에서 요금소 앞 1인 시위를 이어가는 한편, 민자도로 운영 문제와 관련해 국민연금공단을 직접 항의 방문하는 등 지속적으로 문제 해결에 나섰다고 설명했다.

민 후보는 “현재의 통행료 인하 역시 시민들과 함께 싸워온 결과”라며 “이제는 여기서 멈추지 않고 완전한 무료화까지 반드시 이끌어내야 한다”고 말했다.

또한 고양시와 파주시, 김포시 등 경기 서북부 3개 지자체의 공동 대응 필요성도 강조했다. 

그는 “민생과 교통 기본권 문제 앞에서는 여야와 지역을 따질 이유가 없다”며 “3개 지자체가 함께 책임 있는 논의와 예산 협력에 나서야 한다”고 밝혔다.
