파주시 반성매매 시민활동단 '클리어링'이 지역 축제 현장에서 성매매 집결지 폐쇄를 위한 시민 인식 개선 캠페인을 성황리에 마쳤다.

지난 16일 금촌어울림센터(금정로 45)에서 파주시 여성단체협의회 주최로 열린 '우리 동네 알뜰시장' 행사장에서 클리어링 회원 30여 명이 장터를 찾은 시민들을 대상으로 홍보 활동을 펼쳤다.

이번 캠페인은 성매매 집결지 문제를 단순한 지역 현안이 아닌, 인권 수호와 공동체 책임, 미래 세대를 위한 안전한 환경 조성이라는 사회적 과제로 공론화하기 위해 기획됐다. 

활동단은 홍보물을 배포하고 집결지 폐쇄의 공동체적 의미를 시민들에게 직접 설명하며 적극적인 소통에 나섰다.

특히 여성의 존엄과 성평등을 상징하는 '보라색' 풍선을 시민들에게 나누어 주는 퍼포먼스가 눈길을 끌었다. 

성매매 집결지 폐쇄가 여성 인권 보호와 직결된 문제임을 시각적으로 전달하려는 의도다.

현장을 찾은 시민들의 반응도 뜨거웠다. 

자녀와 함께 장터를 방문한 한 시민은 "장을 보러 왔다가 자연스럽게 캠페인의 취지를 알게 됐다"며 "지역사회가 함께 고민해야 할 문제라는 생각이 든다"고 말했다. 

안내판을 꼼꼼히 살피고 활동단에게 질문을 던지는 등 적극적인 관심을 보이는 시민도 많았다.

클리어링 관계자는 "성매매 집결지 폐쇄는 인간의 존엄을 지키고 파주시가 건강한 공동체로 나아가기 위한 필수 과제"라며 "우리 아이들이 안전하고 건강한 환경에서 자랄 수 있도록 시민 한 분 한 분의 인식 변화와 지속적인 동참을 부탁드린다"고 강조했다.
