경기북부보훈지청이 청소년들이 호국 영웅들의 발자취를 직접 체험하며 나라사랑과 평화의 가치를 되새길 수 있는 특별한 역사 현장 교육을 마련했다.

경기북부보훈지청은 지난 9일 ‘희생·추모·연대… 우리가 걸은 보훈 스토리텔링’을 주제로 ‘2026년도 국내 보훈사적지 탐방 프로그램’을 운영했다고 밝혔다.

이번 프로그램에는 파주 문산고등학교 학생 23명과 지도교사 등 총 27명이 참여해 연천과 동두천 일대 주요 보훈사적지를 둘러보며 6·25전쟁의 역사와 호국 정신을 체험하는 시간을 가졌다.

탐방은 단순 견학이 아닌 장소별 이야기를 따라가는 스토리텔링 형식으로 진행돼 학생들의 이해와 몰입도를 높였다.

학생들은 먼저 연천의 ‘호국영웅 레클리스 거리’를 찾아 전쟁 속에서 헌신한 호국 영웅들의 이야기를 들으며 희생의 의미를 되새겼다.

이어 UN군 화장장 시설에서는 이름 없이 전장에서 산화한 전몰장병들을 기리며 묵념과 추모의 시간을 가졌다.

또한 동두천 자유수호평화박물관에서는 한국전쟁 당시 참전국들의 연대와 국제사회의 협력을 살펴보며 오늘날 평화의 가치와 의미를 배우는 시간을 가졌다.

특히 이번 프로그램은 MZ세대 학생들의 눈높이에 맞춘 참여형 콘텐츠로 눈길을 끌었다. 

학생들은 4개 조로 나뉘어 QR코드를 활용한 역사 퀴즈를 수행하고, 포토 미션과 추모 메시지 작성 활동에 참여했다. 

아울러 탐방 내용을 바탕으로 직접 숏폼 영상을 제작해 현장에서 공유하는 시간도 마련됐다.

이날 제작된 영상 가운데 우수작으로 선정된 조에게는 문화상품권이 수여돼 학생들의 큰 호응을 얻었다.

탐방에 참여한 문산고 한 학생은 “교과서로만 접했던 전쟁의 흔적을 현장에서 직접 보니 훨씬 깊은 울림이 있었다”며 “우리가 누리는 평화 뒤에 많은 희생이 있었다는 사실을 다시 한번 느끼게 됐다”고 말했다.
