파주경찰서와 파주시약사회는 지난 6월 25일 임진마루에서 마약 범죄예방을 위한 업무협약을 체결했다.

이날 협약식에는 정덕진 파주경찰서장, 백준호 파주시약사회 회장을 비롯한 관계자들이 참석했다.

이번 협약은 세계 마약퇴치의 날을 맞아 파주시 전 약국에서 사용되는 약 봉투에 마약 근절 문구와 이미지를 삽입하고, 마약 범죄를 사전에 차단하기 위한 공동 홍보 활동을 추진하자는 취지로 마련됐다.

정덕진 서장은 “마약 청정국이던 과거와 달리, 최근 마약범죄는 미래세대를 위협하는 심각한 사회문제로 확산되고 있다”며 “파주시민을 지켜내기 위해 적극적인 예방 홍보와 인식 전환이 시급하다”고 강조했다.

이어 “상담 인원 대비 상담 완료자가 적은 실정을 볼 때, 마약 문제는 우리 주변에서 벌어지는 빈번한 사회문제로 인식해야 한다”고 밝혔다.

백준호 회장은 “약 봉투 외에도 파주시 전 약국을 활용한 추가 홍보 방안을 마련해 마약 및 범죄예방을 위한 시민 중심 홍보 플랫폼을 조성하겠다”고 전했다.

양 기관은 앞으로도 마약뿐 아니라 다양한 범죄예방 정책을 함께 홍보하며, 더욱 안전한 지역사회를 만들기 위한 협력을 이어가기로 했다.[파주=빅정호 기자]
