파주시가 발달장애인의 권리 증진과 사회적 인식 개선을 위한 뜻깊은 자리를 마련했다.

파주시는 지난 7일 운정다누림장애인복지관에서 '2026년 발달장애인의 날 기념식 및 자기권리주장대회'를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

경기도지적발달장애인복지협회 파주시지부(지부장 엄미현)가 주최한 이번 행사에는 최병갑 파주시 부시장을 비롯해 발달장애인과 가족, 유관기관 관계자 등 200여 명이 참석해 발달장애인의 권리와 사회 참여의 의미를 함께 나눴다.

행사는 고양플룻앙상블의 식전 축하공연으로 시작됐으며, 지난해 열린 '2025년 자기권리주장대회' 수상자들의 발표가 이어져 참석자들에게 깊은 감동을 선사했다.

기념식에서는 발달장애인의 복지 증진과 권익 향상을 위해 헌신한 유공자 6명에 대한 표창도 진행됐다. 

파주시장 표창 2명과 국회의원 표창 4명이 수상의 영예를 안았으며, 이어 발달장애인 권리선언문 낭독을 통해 장애인과 비장애인이 함께 살아가는 포용 사회의 가치를 되새기는 시간을 가졌다.

최병갑 파주시 부시장은 축사를 통해 "지적발달장애는 극복해야 할 대상이 아니라 사회가 함께 이해하고 존중해야 할 다양성의 영역"이라며 "장애인 일자리 확대와 무장애 환경 조성, 통합돌봄 사업 등을 지속적으로 추진해 발달장애인이 지역사회에서 당당한 구성원으로 살아갈 수 있도록 적극 지원하겠다"고 말했다.

이어 열린 자기권리주장대회에서는 발달장애인들이 지역사회의 주체적인 구성원으로서 자신의 생각과 꿈, 권리에 대한 이야기를 진솔하게 발표하며 큰 호응을 얻었다.

 참가자들은 저마다의 경험과 미래에 대한 희망을 자신감 있게 전했고, 발표가 이어질 때마다 객석에서는 따뜻한 응원과 박수가 쏟아졌다.

대회는 우수 발표자에 대한 시상식을 끝으로 마무리됐으며, 참가자와 가족, 관계자들은 서로를 격려하며 포용과 공감의 의미를 함께 나누는 시간을 가졌다.

Paju City announced that it held the '2026 Day of Persons with Developmental Disabilities Commemoration Ceremony and Self-Advocacy Contest' at the Unjeong Danurim Welfare Center for Persons with Disabilities on the 7th.

Hosted by the Paju Branch of the Gyeonggi Association for the Welfare of Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (Branch Head: Um Mi-hyun), the event was attended by approximately 200 people, including Paju City Vice Mayor Choi Byeong-gap, persons with developmental disabilities and their families, and officials from related organizations, who shared the significance of the rights and social participation of persons with developmental disabilities.
