고양특례시 일산동구의 대표 상업·문화 중심지인 라페스타가 빛을 활용한 경관 개선사업을 통해 새로운 야간 명소로 탈바꿈했다.

일산동구는 노후화된 조명시설과 보행 환경을 개선하기 위해 추진한 라페스타 일대 환경개선사업을 최근 완료했다고 8일 밝혔다.

이번 사업은 경기도 특별조정교부금 5억500만 원을 투입해 경관조명과 플랜터(앉음벽), 고효율 LED 가로등 등을 새롭게 설치하며 시민들이 더욱 안전하고 쾌적하게 이용할 수 있는 거리 환경을 조성하는 데 중점을 뒀다.

이번 사업의 핵심은 '생기있게 피어나는 빛의 꽃망울'이라는 콘셉트를 반영한 특화 경관조명이다. 

자연의 빛이 거리 곳곳에서 꽃망울처럼 피어나는 모습을 형상화한 디자인을 적용해 낮과 밤 모두 색다른 분위기를 연출하도록 했다.

중앙 보행로에는 시민들이 편안하게 휴식을 취할 수 있도록 플랜터와 앉음벽을 설치해 쉼터 기능을 강화했다. 

특히 야간에는 민들레를 형상화한 특화 조명이 은은한 빛을 발산하며 방문객들에게 새로운 볼거리를 제공하는 포토존 역할도 수행할 것으로 기대된다.

보행 안전성도 크게 향상됐다.

기존 메탈할라이드 조명은 고효율 LED 가로등으로 전면 교체됐으며, 이를 통해 거리 평균 조도가 기존보다 두 배 이상 높아져 야간에도 시민들이 보다 안전하게 이동할 수 있는 환경이 마련됐다.

에너지 효율도 크게 개선됐다. 

LED 조명 도입으로 기존 대비 50% 이상의 에너지 절감 효과가 기대돼 탄소 저감과 친환경 도시환경 조성에도 긍정적인 역할을 할 전망이다.

일산동구는 이번 환경개선사업이 라페스타의 도시 이미지를 한층 높이는 것은 물론, 야간 유동인구 증가를 통해 지역 상권 활성화에도 도움이 될 것으로 기대하고 있다.

정달용 일산동구 안전건설과장은 "이번 환경개선사업을 통해 라페스타가 낮과 밤 모두 활력이 넘치는 고양시의 대표 명소로 다시 자리매김하길 기대한다"며 "앞으로도 시민들이 안전하고 쾌적하게 이용할 수 있는 보행 환경을 조성하고 지역 상권에 새로운 활력을 불어넣을 수 있도록 지속적으로 노력하겠다"고 말했다.
