경기 파주시내 한 아파트 단지에서 불이 나 소방당국이 대응에 나선 가운데, 손배찬 파주시장이 예정된 일정을 모두 미루고 직접 현장을 찾아 진화·구조 상황을 챙겼다.

경기도소방재난본부에 따르면 7일 오전 10시 46분경 파주시 와동동 가람마을 8단지 내 한 세대에서 불이 났다는 신고가 접수됐다. 

신고 직후 소방인력이 현장으로 급파됐고, 11시 8분에는 대응 1단계가 발령돼 화재 진압 작업이 본격적으로 진행 중이다.

현장에는 펌프차 6대와 탱크차 5대, 고가사다리차 2대, 구조차 6대, 구급차 5대가 투입됐으며, 굴절차와 화학차 등도 함께 동원돼 다수의 인력과 장비가 진화 작업을 벌이고 있다.

이날 오전 손 시장은 운정3동에서 진행 중이던 소통방문 행사 도중 화재 소식을 접하고 오후로 잡혀 있던 운정4동 소통방문 일정도 미루고 화재 현장으로 이동했다.

현장에 도착한 손 시장은 소방당국에 각 층별 대피 인원과 구조 진행 상황을 실시간으로 확인해 줄 것을 요청하며, 인명피해를 막는 데 모든 역량을 집중해 달라고 당부했다. 

또 화재로 피해를 입은 주민들의 상황을 세심히 살피고 이재민 지원에도 소홀함이 없도록 관계자들에게 지시했다.
