고양특례시가 미래 성장동력으로 항공우주산업을 본격 육성하며 글로벌 자족도시 도약에 속도를 낸다.

고양시는 지난 6일 한국항공대학교 항공우주센터 비전홀에서 한국항공대학교와 공동으로 '항공우주 산학융합 거점도시 비전 선포식'을 개최하고, 항공우주 및 미래 모빌리티 산업을 중심으로 한 첨단산업 육성 비전을 공식 발표했다.

이번 선포식은 민선 9기 민경선 고양특례시장의 핵심 공약인 첨단산업 유치를 통한 신성장동력 확보와 양질의 일자리 창출을 구체화하기 위한 자리로 마련됐다. 

고양시는 산학연 협력 기반을 강화해 항공우주산업의 핵심 거점도시로 성장하겠다는 청사진을 제시했다.

이날 발표된 비전에는 백석업무단지 내 항공우주 산학융합센터 조성, 글로벌 수준의 교육·연구 네트워크 확대, 지방자치단체와 기업, 대학, 연구기관이 함께하는 혁신 생태계 구축 등이 핵심 전략으로 담겼다.

시는 백석업무단지에 조성될 항공우주 산학융합센터를 중심으로 관련 기업과 연구기관을 집적화하고, 연구개발(R&D)과 전문인력 양성, 기술사업화가 유기적으로 이뤄지는 산학융합 생태계를 구축한다는 계획이다. 

이를 통해 첨단기업 유치와 지속 가능한 산업 기반을 마련하고 지역경제 활성화와 일자리 창출로 연결한다는 구상이다.

행사에는 민경선 고양특례시장과 허희영 한국항공대학교 총장을 비롯해 한준호 국회의원, 정승렬 국민대학교 총장, 성정석 동국대학교 바이오메디캠퍼스(BMC) 부총장, 항공우주 분야 기업과 연구기관 관계자 등이 참석해 산학협력 강화와 산업 육성 방안을 함께 논의했다.

이어 "대한민국을 넘어 글로벌 항공우주 거점도시로 도약할 수 있도록 모든 행정 역량을 집중하겠다"고 강조했다.

허희영 한국항공대학교 총장도 "고양시와 경기도의 항공우주·방산산업 육성 의지가 매우 확고하다"며 "대학이 보유한 교육과 연구 역량을 지역 산업과 적극 연계해 지역과 대학이 함께 성장하는 성공적인 산학협력 모델을 만들겠다"고 말했다.

행사에서는 '고양특례시 중심의 항공우주산업 발전 미래 비전' 발표와 함께 참석자들이 비전 선포 세리머니를 진행하며 고양시 첨단산업의 새로운 출발을 선언했다.
