국제라이온스협회 354-H 3지구(파주지역)가 지역 내 소외된 이웃을 위한 나눔 활동을 펼치며 따뜻한 지역사회를 만드는 데 앞장서고 있다.

파주읍은 지난 6월 28일 국제라이온스협회 354-H 3지구가 파주읍 연풍리에 위치한 외국인 돌봄센터 '조이하우스'를 방문해 후원물품을 전달했다고 밝혔다.

조이하우스는 아프리카 출신 외국인들이 서로 의지하며 일자리 정보를 공유하고 자녀를 함께 돌보는 공동체 공간이다. 

정부의 별도 지원 없이 후원금만으로 운영되고 있어 지역사회의 지속적인 관심과 지원이 필요한 곳으로 알려져 있다.

이 같은 사정을 접한 국제라이온스협회 354-H 3지구 회원들은 자발적으로 성금을 모아 아이들에게 필요한 라면과 햄 등 식료품을 마련해 전달했다.

특히 물품 전달이 이뤄진 이날은 센터를 이용하는 아프리카계 외국인들이 종교행사를 위해 한자리에 모이는 날인 점을 고려해 아이들이 간편하게 먹을 수 있는 분식류 중심으로 후원물품을 구성했다. 

예상치 못한 선물을 받은 부모와 아이들은 감사의 마음을 전하며 환한 미소로 화답했다.

국제라이온스협회 354-H 3지구 정종훈 사무부총장은 "공공의 지원 없이도 어려운 환경에서 외국인들을 정성껏 돌보고 있는 시설이 파주읍에 있다는 소식을 듣고 회원들과 함께 뜻을 모았다"며 "이번 후원이 아이들이 건강하고 밝게 성장하는 데 작은 도움이 되길 바란다"고 말했다.

국제라이온스협회 354-H 3지구는 파주지역 11개 라이온스클럽이 연합한 봉사단체로, 지역사회 발전과 소외계층 지원을 위해 다양한 봉사와 후원 활동을 꾸준히 이어오고 있다.

이번 나눔은 조이하우스에 대한 후원에 그치지 않았다. 

국제라이온스협회 354-H 3지구는 파주읍 행정복지센터에도 추가로 후원물품을 기증했으며, 해당 물품은 지역 아동복지시설인 평화원과 한부모가정의 아동들에게 전달될 예정이다.

As it operates solely on donations without separate government support, it is known to be a place that requires continuous interest and support from the local community.

Upon learning of this situation, members of the Lions Clubs International District 354-H voluntarily raised funds to prepare and deliver food items, such as ramen and ham, needed by the children. In particular, considering that the day the supplies were delivered was a day when African foreigners using the center gathered for a religious service, the donated items were curated around snack foods that children could easily eat.
