고양특례시가 지역 공예산업을 이끌어갈 최고 수준의 장인을 발굴하기 위해 ‘2026년 고양시 공예명장’을 공개 선발한다.

시는 3일 「고양시 공예산업 육성 및 지원 조례」 제7조에 따라 전통과 현대 공예의 가치를 계승하고 공예인의 자긍심을 높이기 위한 공예명장 선발을 추진한다고 밝혔다.

이번 선발은 목·칠, 도자, 금속, 섬유, 종이, 기타 공예 등 6개 분야를 대상으로 진행되며, 이 가운데 단 1명만 최종 공예명장으로 선정할 예정이다. 

시는 최고 수준의 숙련 기술과 공예산업 발전 기여도를 종합적으로 심사해 명장을 선정하며, 심사 결과 적격자가 없을 경우에는 선정하지 않을 수 있다.

공예명장으로 선정된 대상자에게는 창작 활동과 후진 양성을 지원하기 위해 연구개발 장려금 1,000만 원이 일시금으로 지급된다. 

또한 ‘고양시 공예명장’ 공식 칭호와 함께 고양시장 명의의 명장 증서가 수여되며, 작업 공간이나 공방에 부착할 수 있는 인증 현판도 제공된다.

신청 자격은 공예 분야에서 15년 이상 지속적으로 종사한 사람으로, 공고일 기준 고양시에 10년 이상 주민등록을 두고 거주한 시민이어야 한다. 

아울러 최고 수준의 숙련기술을 보유하거나 지역 공예산업 발전과 공예인의 지위 향상에 크게 기여한 경력이 있어야 한다.

원서 접수는 오는 7월 27일부터 8월 5일까지 진행된다. 

신청 방법과 제출 서류는 고양시청 누리집 공고 게시판에서 확인할 수 있으며, 자세한 사항은 고양시청 소상공인지원과를 통해 안내받을 수 있다.

고양시는 지난 2021년부터 2024년까지 도자, 종이, 목·칠 등 다양한 분야에서 총 5명의 공예명장을 선정하며 지역 공예문화의 우수성을 널리 알려왔다.
