파주중앙도서관은 시민들에게 목공예의 가치와 창작의 즐거움을 전하기 위해 오는 7월 14일 오후 7시 30분부터 중앙도서관 5층 창작공간 ‘스토리앤드(&)’에서 목공예가 최성우 작가를 초청해 ‘손으로 만드는 일과 삶’을 주제로 특별 강연을 개최한다.

최성우 작가는 자동차 회사에서 마케팅 업무를 담당한 뒤 목공예가로 전향해 자신만의 작품 세계를 구축해 왔었고 현재 국립현대미술관 미술가게에 작품을 선보이고 있으며, 국내외 파인 다이닝 셰프들과의 협업을 통해 목공예의 새로운 가능성을 제시하며 주목받고 있으며 파주 심학산 인근에 작업실을 두고 활동하고 있으며, 문화역서울284와 보안여관, 운현상재 등 다양한 문화공간에서 전시를 이어왔다.

강연에 앞서 오는 7월 12일 오후 2시에는 시민들이 직접 나무를 다듬고 소품을 제작해 보는 체험 프로그램도 진행되며 참가자들은 나무를 만지고 깎는 과정을 통해 목공예의 매력을 경험할 수 있으며 이와 함께 ‘목요일 출판사’와 ‘목공방카페’를 운영하는 김은영 대표가 함께 참여해 그림책 「내 친구 안토니오」를 읽고, 이야기 속에 등장하는 고래 모양 장식품을 직접 만들어 보는 독서 연계 체험도 마련된다.

To convey the value of woodcraft and the joy of creation to citizens, Paju Central Library will host a special lecture titled "Work and Life Made by Hand" featuring woodcraft artist Choi Seong-woo on July 14 at 7:30 PM at the "Story &" creative space on the 5th floor of the library.

This lecture is designed to share the life and creative stories of the artist, who has experienced various fields, with the citizens.
