경기북부보훈지청이 지역 청소년들이 직접 기록한 독립유공자 후손들의 이야기를 담은 자서전을 지역사회와 공유하며 보훈문화 확산에 나섰다.

경기북부보훈지청은 지난 26일 의정부시 정보도서관에서 독립유공자 자서전 「나라를 지키던 그날의 마음」 기증식을 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이번 기증식은 독립운동의 역사를 시민들과 함께 나누고, 독립유공자들의 숭고한 희생과 나라사랑 정신을 지역사회에 널리 알리기 위해 마련됐다.

기증된 자서전 「나라를 지키던 그날의 마음」은 미래세대가 독립운동의 가치를 직접 기록했다는 점에서 의미를 더한다. 

특히 파주 한민고등학교 학생들이 독립유공자 후손들을 직접 만나 생생한 증언을 듣고 인터뷰를 진행한 뒤 이를 바탕으로 집필에 참여해 단순한 역사 학습을 넘어 '기록자'의 역할을 수행했다.

학생들의 노력으로 완성된 자서전은 의정부시 관내 공공도서관 6곳에 비치돼 시민 누구나 자유롭게 열람할 수 있도록 할 예정이다.

박용주 경기북부보훈지청장은 "학생들이 직접 기록한 독립유공자의 이야기가 공공도서관을 통해 더 많은 시민들에게 전해져 독립운동의 숭고한 정신을 함께 나누는 계기가 되길 바란다"며 "앞으로도 지역사회와 긴밀히 협력해 시민들이 일상 속에서 보훈의 가치를 자연스럽게 느낄 수 있는 다양한 사업을 지속적으로 추진하겠다"고 말했다.

경기북부보훈지청은 자서전 기증에 이어 시민 참여 프로그램도 마련한다. 

오는 8월 의정부시 공공도서관에 비치된 자서전을 대상으로 '시민 참여 독후감 이벤트'를 개최해 시민들이 독립유공자의 삶과 정신을 더욱 깊이 이해하고, 지역사회 전반에 보훈문화가 확산될 수 있도록 할 계획이다.
