파주시 문산도서관이 올여름 초등학생들의 독서·한글 쓰기 역량을 동시에 끌어올릴 행사를 마련했다. 

오는 6월 15일부터 7월 29일까지, 국립어린이청소년도서관과 국립한글박물관이 함께 여는 '제12회 책 속 인물에게 보내는 한글 손 편지' 공모전에 참여 거점 도서관으로 합류해 자체 모집을 진행하는 것이다.

이 행사는 어린이가 인상 깊게 읽은 책의 등장인물을 골라 직접 손으로 편지를 써 보내는 전국 규모의 독서문화 프로그램이고 전국 280개 도서관이 동참하며, 지원을 희망하는 어린이는 반드시 참여 기관을 거쳐야만 출품할 수 있다.

문산도서관은 2층 어린이자료실에서 편지지 배포와 접수를 맡고, 연계 글쓰기 강좌도 함께 열어 어린이들을 도우며 마감은 7월 26일이며, 도서관에서 나눠준 용지에 손으로 쓴 두 장 이내의 편지를 창구에 직접 내야 한다.

접수된 작품은 파주시 중앙·교하·문산도서관 상주 작가들이 공동으로 심사해 최우수작 세 편을 고르며 이 작품들은 문산도서관 대표작으로 국립어린이청소년도서관에 넘겨지고, 최종 전국 심사에서 문화체육관광부장관상 등 총 27편의 수상작이 가려진다.

주관 측은 디지털 기기에 익숙한 요즘 아이들이 연필을 쥐고 한 획씩 눌러 쓰는 경험이 논리적 사고와 감수성을 아우르는 고유한 학습 효과를 낳을 것으로 내다봤다.

Paju Munsan Library has organized an event this summer designed to simultaneously boost elementary students' reading and Hangeul writing skills.

From June 15 to July 29, the library will join as a participating hub library for the "12th Hangeul Handwritten Letter to Book Characters" contest, co-hosted by the National Children and Youth Library and the National Hangeul Museum, and will conduct its own recruitment process.

This event is a nationwide reading culture program where children select a character from a book that left a deep impression on them and write a handwritten letter to them. 280 libraries across the country are participating, and children wishing to apply must submit their entries through a participating institution. Munsan Library is responsible for distributing stationery and accepting submissions at the Children's Materials Room on the second floor. They are also supporting children by holding related writing classes. The deadline is July 26, and participants must submit handwritten letters of no more than two pages, written on the paper provided by the library, directly at the counter.

The submitted works will be jointly judged by resident writers from Paju Central, Gyoha, and Munsan Libraries to select the top three entries.
