고양특례시가 대한민국 MICE 산업을 선도하는 도시로서의 위상을 한층 강화하기 위해 ‘고양 MICE 비전 서밋(가칭)’ 개최 준비에 본격적으로 나섰다.

회의에는 MICE 업계 관계자와 학계, 연구기관 전문가들이 참석해 통합재단의 역할과 비전, 킨텍스 제3전시장 건립에 따른 산업 환경 변화, 지역 전략산업과의 연계 방안 등을 집중적으로 논의했다.

이날 참석자들은 고양시 MICE 산업의 지속적인 성장과 경쟁력 강화를 위해 네 가지 핵심 과제를 제시했다. 

우선 통합재단 출범에 맞춰 전담기구의 역할을 명확히 정립하고 기관 간 시너지를 극대화해야 한다는 의견이 나왔다. 

또한 MICE 산업과 고양시 전략산업을 융합한 ‘고양형 성장모델’을 구축해 지역경제 활성화를 이끌어야 한다는 제안도 이어졌다.

이와 함께 지속가능한 거버넌스 체계를 구축하기 위한 민관 협력 확대와, 향후 10년간 고양 MICE 산업을 이끌 실천 중심의 정책 과제를 발굴해야 한다는 필요성도 강조됐다.

준비위원들은 이번 비전 서밋이 단순한 포럼이나 일회성 행사에 머물러서는 안 된다는 데 의견을 모았다. 

지난 10년간 고양시가 축적해 온 MICE 산업 성과를 객관적으로 진단하고, 앞으로의 10년을 위한 구체적인 실행 전략을 제시하는 정책 플랫폼으로 자리매김해야 한다는 것이다.

특히 MICE 산업이 단순한 전시·회의 유치 차원을 넘어 지역경제 활성화와 일자리 창출, 도시 브랜드 가치 향상, 시민 삶의 질 제고에 기여하는 핵심 성장동력이라는 점에 공감하며, 정책 결정자와 공직사회의 이해를 높일 수 있는 프로그램을 마련해야 한다는 의견도 제시됐다.

고양시는 이번 회의에서 수렴된 전문가들의 의견을 바탕으로 기조강연과 세부 세션 구성을 구체화하는 한편, 국내외 MICE 전문가와 산업계 관계자들의 참여를 확대해 행사 완성도를 높여 나갈 계획이다.
