고양특례시가 시민들의 안전한 자전거 이용 환경 조성을 위해 ‘2026년 자전거 이용 보험’ 가입을 완료했다.

고양시는 9일 고양시에 주민등록이 되어 있는 모든 시민과 등록 외국인을 대상으로 별도 신청 절차 없이 자동 가입되는 자전거 이용 보험을 운영한다고 밝혔다.

이번 보험은 2026년 6월 1일부터 2027년 5월 31일까지 1년간 적용되며, 사고 발생 지역과 관계없이 전국 어디서나 동일한 보장 혜택을 받을 수 있다. 

보험금 청구는 사고 발생일로부터 3년 이내 가능하다.

특히 올해는 시민들의 실질적인 지원 강화를 위해 진단위로금이 전년 대비 주당 5만 원씩 인상됐다. 

자전거 사고로 인한 사망 또는 후유장애 발생 시 최대 1,000만 원이 지급되며, 4주 이상 진단 시 25만 원에서 최대 65만 원까지 진단위로금을 받을 수 있다. 

또한 4주 이상 진단을 받고 6일 이상 입원한 경우 입원위로금 15만 원이 지급된다.

이와 함께 자전거 사고로 타인에게 신체적 피해를 입힌 경우에는 최대 300만 원 한도의 대인 배상책임 보장도 제공된다.

보장 범위는 자전거를 직접 운전하거나 동승 중 발생한 사고뿐 아니라 보행 중 자전거와 충돌해 피해를 입은 경우까지 포함한다. 

다만 피보험자의 고의 행위나 자해, 범죄행위 등으로 발생한 사고는 보장 대상에서 제외된다.

보험금 청구와 관련한 자세한 사항은 자전거 이용 보험 콜센터를 통해 안내받을 수 있으며, 웹 청구 시스템을 통해서도 신청이 가능하다.

고양시 관계자는 “이번 자전거 보험이 예기치 못한 사고로 어려움을 겪는 시민들의 경제적 부담을 덜어주는 실질적인 지원책이 되기를 바란다”며 “앞으로도 시민들이 안심하고 자전거를 이용할 수 있는 안전한 환경 조성에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
