파주소방서가 지역 초등생들을 안전문화 확산의 주역으로 키우는 프로젝트를 가동했다.

파주소방서는 지난 18일 심학초등학교 강당에서 '한국119청소년단 발대식'을 개최했으며 소방관, 담임교사, 학생 단원을 포함해 모두 75명이 자리를 채웠다.

한국119청소년단은 미래 세대에게 안전의식을 심고 자기 보호 역량을 키우는 것을 목표로 운영되는 범국가적 청소년 육성 프로그램이며 발대식은 내빈 소개를 시작으로 단 소개, 안전다짐 선서, 깃발 전달식, 대표자 기념사, 단체 사진 촬영 순으로 진행됐다.

행사의 하이라이트는 단원 대표가 직접 낭독한 안전다짐 선서였으며 선서에는 일상에서 안전모범을 보이고, 안전지식을 쌓아 더 나은 사회를 만드는 데 헌신하겠다는 의지가 담겼다.

발대식 후에는 실용적인 소방안전 교육이 이어졌으며 핵심 주제는 심폐소생술(CPR)이었으며, '반응 확인·구조 요청·가슴 압박'의 세 단계를 이론 강의와 모둠 실습으로 나눠 진행했다. 

학생들은 마네킹을 상대로 직접 압박 동작을 반복하며 위기 상황에서 즉각 반응하는 능력을 길렀다.

파주소방서 측은 "청소년단 활동은 단순 프로그램 참여가 아니라 매일의 습관으로 안전을 내면화하는 여정"이라며 "단원들이 가정과 학교, 이웃에서 안전 의식을 전파하는 변화의 씨앗이 되길 바란다"고 밝혔으며 아울러 "체험 위주의 교육 방식을 꾸준히 확대해 아이들이 안전을 실생활에서 실천하는 토대를 마련하겠다"고 덧붙였다.
