고양특례시가 시민 참여를 중심으로 한 ‘쓰레기 다이어트’ 정책을 통해 지속 가능한 자원순환 도시로의 전환에 속도를 내고 있다. 

단순한 폐기물 처리 행정을 넘어 시민들의 생활 습관 변화를 유도하는 참여형 자원순환 정책이 실질적인 성과를 거두며 주목받고 있다.

시는 재활용품을 올바르게 분리배출하면 포인트를 지급하는 ‘자원순환가게’와 ‘순환자원 무인회수기’를 운영하며 시민들의 자발적인 참여를 이끌어내고 있다.

자원순환가게에서는 투명 페트병과 플라스틱, 캔, 종이팩 등을 가져오면 무게를 측정해 포인트를 적립해준다. 

올해는 운영 거점이 지난해보다 5곳 늘어난 총 20개소로 확대됐으며, 오는 11월까지 주 1회 정기 운영된다.
