제45회 스승의 날을 맞아 민경선 더불어민주당 고양특례시장 예비후보가 자신의 은사에 대한 감사의 마음을 전하며 고양시 교육 혁신을 위한 ‘4대 교육 정책 공약’을 발표했다. 

경기도의회 교육위원장 출신이라는 전문성을 앞세운 이번 정책 발표는 학부모와 교육계의 관심을 모으고 있다.

민 후보는 15일 자신의 SNS를 통해 초등학교 6학년 시절 담임이었던 권경안 선생님과의 특별한 인연을 소개했다. 

그는 “당시 아무도 선뜻 맡지 않던 교실 문단속을 1년 내내 도맡아 했던 저에게 선생님께서 ‘경선이는 성실하니 나중에 꼭 큰 사람이 될 것’이라고 말씀해 주셨다”며 “그 따뜻한 격려 한마디가 오늘의 저를 만든 인생의 이정표가 됐다”고 회상했다.

이어 “선생님께 배운 성실함과 책임감을 이제는 고양시 교육 행정을 통해 시민들에게 돌려드리고 싶다”며 “아이들이 행복하게 배우고 학부모가 안심할 수 있는 교육 환경을 만드는 데 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

민 후보는 이날 고양시 교육 경쟁력 강화를 위한 4대 대표 공약도 함께 공개했다. 

먼저 지역 내 작은도서관을 돌봄과 봉사활동이 가능한 복합 공공 거점으로 확대 활용해 ‘마을 교육 공동체’를 활성화하겠다는 구상을 제시했다. 

이를 통해 지역사회가 함께 아이들을 돌보고 성장시키는 교육 생태계를 조성하겠다는 계획이다.

또한 노후화된 학교 시설 개선에도 적극 나서겠다고 밝혔다. 

학생들의 안전과 학습권 보장을 위해 학교 환경 개선 예산을 확대하고, 쾌적한 교육 환경 조성을 위한 시설 보수 지원을 강화하겠다는 방침이다.

아울러 고양시 전역의 다양한 교육·문화 인프라를 학생들이 보다 쉽게 체험할 수 있도록 ‘고양형 체험학습 버스’를 운영하겠다는 계획도 내놨다. 

체험학습 이동 지원 체계를 구축해 지역 내 교육 자원을 보다 효율적으로 활용하겠다는 취지다.

이와 함께 지자체와 교육청, 학교, 학부모가 긴밀히 협력하는 현장 중심 교육 거버넌스 구축도 핵심 공약으로 제시했다. 

교육 현장의 의견이 정책에 신속히 반영될 수 있는 협력 체계를 만들어 실질적인 교육 자치를 실현하겠다는 설명이다.

민 후보는 “부족함을 알기에 누구보다 더 부지런히 시민 곁으로 다가가겠다”며 “경기도의회 교육위원장으로서 쌓아온 경험과 전문성을 바탕으로 고양시를 대한민국 최고의 교육도시로 만들겠다”고 강조했다.

지역 정치권에서는 스승의 날이라는 상징적인 시점에 맞춰 발표된 이번 교육 공약이 교육 문제에 관심이 높은 학부모 유권자층의 공감을 얻을 것으로 보고 있다.

On the 15th, Candidate Min shared a special bond with his homeroom teacher, Kwon Kyung-an, from his sixth grade year of elementary school, via his social media.

He recalled, “At the time, I took charge of locking the classroom door for the entire year—a task no one else would readily undertake.
