고양특례시 신원도서관이 오는 16일 경기도서관과 손잡고 조관공원에서 '어쩌다 마주친 책' 행사를 펼친다.

이번 협력사업은 오전 10시부터 시작되며, 독립서점 플리마켓과 야외도서관, 인형극 등 다채로운 체험 마당이 공원 곳곳에 펼쳐진다.

조관공원 현장에는 영어 팝업북 전시와 함께 건강·큰글자 도서를 엄선한 북큐레이션 코너가 마련되고, 캠핑 의자에 앉아 야외 독서를 즐길 수 있는 공간도 갖춰지며  방문객들은 경기도 독서문화지도 만들기 활동(QR코드)과 꽃차 시음에 참여할 수 있으며, '천권으로' 독서포인트 적립 혜택도 받을 수 있다.

같은 날 오전 10시부터 12시까지는 도서관 3층 시청각실에서 베스트셀러 「그저 영어 그림책을 읽어줬을 뿐입니다」의 저자 만두아빠가 '우리 아이 영어, 영어그림책으로'를 주제로 특강을 진행한다.

만두아빠는 영어그림책 읽어주기가 자녀의 언어 습득은 물론 부모와의 유대감 형성에 미치는 효과와 원리를 생생하게 전달할 예정이며 강연 후에는 공원으로 자리를 옮겨 그림책 읽어주기 개별 상담도 이어간다.

한편 신원도서관은 5월 또 다른 프로그램으로 '시니어 그림책 담소회'를 13일과 27일 도서관 3층에서 운영한다. 

마음과 뇌의 근육을 함께 키우자는 취지로 기획된 이 모임은 55세 이상 시민이면 누구나 참여할 수 있으며, 도서관센터 누리집에서 신청을 받고 있다. 

담소회는 독서 부담 없이 그림책을 매개로 서로의 감각과 관점을 나누는 편안한 소통의 장으로, 독서 기반 시니어 책모임의 출발점이 되도록 꾸려졌다.

도서관 관계자는 "가정의 달 5월에 준비한 이번 프로그램들이 가족 모두에게 활력 있는 쉼과 충전의 계기가 되기를 바란다"고 밝혔다.

Goyang Shinwon Library to Host 'A Book I Happened to Encounter' Event at Jogwan Park

A Rich Event Featuring Special Lecture by Mandu Dad, Flea Market, and Outdoor Library

Goyang Special City's Shinwon Library is partnering with the Gyeonggi Provincial Library to host the 'A Book I Happened to Encounter' event at Jogwan Park on the 16th.

This collaborative project begins at 10:00 AM, with a variety of experiential activities taking place throughout the park, including an independent bookstore flea market, an outdoor library, and puppet shows.

At the site in Jogwan Park, an English pop-up book exhibition will be displayed alongside a book curation corner featuring carefully selected health and large-print books. A space for outdoor reading while seated in camping chairs will also be provided. Visitors can participate in activities such as creating a Gyeonggi-do reading culture map (via QR code) and flower tea tasting, and can also receive benefits for accumulating reading points through the '1,000 Books' program. On the same day, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Mandu Appa, the author of the bestseller *I Just Read English Picture Books*, will deliver a special lecture titled "Learning English for Our Children Through English Picture Books" in the audiovisual room on the 3rd floor of the library.

Mandu Appa plans to vividly convey the effects and principles of reading English picture books aloud on children's language acquisition as well as the formation of a bond with their parents. Following the lecture, the group will move to the park to continue with individual consultations on picture book reading.

Meanwhile, as another program for May, Shinwon Library is hosting the "Senior Picture Book Chat" on the 13th and 27th on the 3rd floor of the library.

Designed with the aim of strengthening both the mind and the brain, this gathering is open to all citizens aged 55 and older, and applications are currently being accepted on the Library Center website.

The Chat is organized as a comfortable venue for communication where participants can share their senses and perspectives through picture books without the pressure of reading, serving as a starting point for senior book clubs based on reading. "A library official stated, 'We hope that these programs prepared for Family Month in May will serve as an opportunity for the whole family to get a revitalizing rest and recharge.'"
