경기 파주시가 시민 건강 보호와 쾌적한 주거 환경 조성을 위해 ‘2026년 슬레이트 처리지원 사업’ 2차 모집에 나선다. 

이번 모집은 올해 사업 추진 이후 남은 잔여 예산을 활용해 진행되며, 시는 올해를 ‘폐슬레이트 수거의 해’로 정하고 그동안 지역 곳곳에 방치됐던 슬레이트 폐기물 처리에 행정력을 집중할 계획이다.

지원 대상은 슬레이트 지붕재나 벽체를 사용하는 건축물 소유주로, 주택의 경우 슬레이트 지붕·벽체 해체 및 처리 비용을 최대 700만 원까지 지원한다. 

축사나 창고 등 비주택 건축물은 최대 540만 원, 부지에 방치된 슬레이트 폐기물 수거 역시 최대 540만 원까지 지원받을 수 있다.

다만 이번 2차 모집에서는 예산이 조기 소진됨에 따라 지붕 개량, 즉 신규 지붕 설치 지원은 제외된다.

신청은 오는 5월 29일까지 가능하며, 건축물 또는 폐기물 소재지 관할 읍·면·동 행정복지센터를 방문해 접수하면 된다. 

사업은 선착순으로 진행돼 예산이 소진될 경우 조기에 마감될 수 있으며, 신청 가구를 대상으로 6월부터 순차적으로 철거 작업이 시작될 예정이다.

슬레이트는 1급 발암물질인 석면이 함유된 건축 자재로, 노후화될 경우 미세한 석면 가루가 공기 중에 퍼져 인체에 심각한 영향을 줄 수 있다. 

이에 시는 방치된 슬레이트를 집중적으로 수거·처리함으로써 시민들의 건강 불안을 해소하고 생활 환경을 개선하겠다는 방침이다.
