파주시가 음식물쓰레기 감축과 건강한 외식문화 조성을 위해 ‘2026년 잔반 줄이기 친환경 음식문화 개선사업’을 본격 추진한다.

이번 사업은 손님이 먹을 만큼 직접 반찬을 덜어가는 ‘셀프 반찬코너’ 운영을 확대해 불필요하게 버려지는 음식물을 줄이고, 자원 낭비를 예방하는 동시에 친환경적인 외식 문화를 지역사회에 정착시키기 위해 마련됐다.

파주시는 관내 일반음식점 15개소를 선정해 셀프 반찬코너 운영에 필요한 반찬냉장고 구입 비용을 지원할 계획이다. 

업소당 최대 50만 원까지 지원되며, 총 구입 비용의 80%를 시가 부담하고 나머지 20%는 영업자가 자부담해야 한다. 

다만 지원을 받은 업소는 해당 냉장고를 활용해 최소 1년 이상 셀프 반찬코너를 의무적으로 운영해야 하며, 이를 이행하지 않을 경우 보조금이 환수될 수 있다.

사업 참여를 희망하는 영업자는 오는 5월 13일부터 신청할 수 있다. 

신청은 파주시청 위생과 방문 접수 또는 전자우편을 통해 가능하다.

 시는 신청 업소의 영업 기간, 전년도 매출액, 시설 노후도 등을 종합적으로 평가해 최종 대상자를 선정할 방침이다.

장혜현 위생과장은 “이번 지원 사업이 영업주들의 경제적 부담을 덜어주는 동시에 잔반 줄이기라는 환경 보호 활동에 자연스럽게 참여하는 계기가 되길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 현장에서 체감할 수 있는 실질적인 지원 정책을 지속적으로 확대해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

이번 사업을 통해 파주시는 식재료 낭비를 줄이고 위생적인 배식 문화를 확산시켜, 지속 가능한 친환경 도시로서의 이미지를 한층 강화할 것으로 기대하고 있다.
