파주시 교하도서관이 창작 활동의 흐름과 과정을 시민들이 직접 체험할 수 있는 전시 프로그램을 마련했다.

교하도서관은 4월부터 내년 3월까지 3층 브라우징룸에서 출판인쇄 특화사업의 일환으로 ‘창작자의 방’ 전시를 순차적으로 선보인다고 밝혔다.

이번 전시는 창작의 다양한 형태를 주제별로 나눠 세 차례에 걸쳐 진행되며 이야기 구성 중심의 창작을 다루는 ‘서사의 창작자’를 시작으로, 시각적 영감을 표현하는 ‘이미지의 창작자’, 기록과 수집을 기반으로 한 ‘기록의 창작자’까지 창작 영역을 폭넓게 조명한다.

첫 번째 전시에서는 그림소설 작업을 이어온 목해경 작가와 독립출판 활동과 수필 작업을 병행해온 오종길 작가가 참여해 각자의 작업 세계를 소개한다. 

전시는 창작자의 사고 공간을 재현한 공간과 제작 과정을 단계별로 풀어낸 구성, 그리고 실제 결과물을 접할 수 있는 공간 등으로 꾸며져 관람객의 이해를 도우며 특히 두 작가의 작업 방식을 한 자리에서 비교해볼 수 있도록 구성한 점이 특징이다.

관람과 함께 작가를 직접 만날 수 있는 프로그램도 이어지며 4월 말과 5월 초에는 참여 작가가 전시장에 함께해 창작 과정과 작품에 대해 설명하고 관람객과 소통하는 시간이 마련될 예정이다.

도서관 측은 그동안 지역 기반 창작자 발굴과 소개에 힘써왔다며 이번 전시가 시민들에게 창작의 의미를 보다 가깝게 느끼는 계기가 되길 기대한다고 밝혔다.

Paju Gyoha Library has prepared an exhibition program that allows citizens to directly experience the flow and process of creative activities.

The library announced that it will sequentially present the "Creator's Room" exhibition in the 3rd-floor Browsing Room from April to March of next year as part of its specialized publishing and printing project.

This exhibition will be held in three installments, categorized by theme to cover various forms of creation. It broadly illuminates the realm of creation, starting with "Narrative Creators," which deals with creation centered on story composition, followed by "Image Creators," who express visual inspiration, and finally "Record Creators," who base their work on records and collections.

In the first exhibition, artist Mok Hae-kyung, who has continued her work in graphic novels, and artist Oh Jong-gil, who has combined independent publishing activities with essay writing, will participate to introduce their respective artistic worlds. The exhibition is designed to aid visitor understanding by featuring a space that recreates the creator's thought process, a layout that unfolds the production process step-by-step, and an area where visitors can view the actual finished products. A key feature is its structure, which allows visitors to compare the working methods of two artists in one place.

Along with the exhibition, there will be programs to meet the artists in person. In late April and early May, participating artists are scheduled to visit the venue to explain their creative processes and works, and to engage with visitors.

The library stated that it has been dedicated to discovering and introducing local creators and expressed hope that this exhibition will serve as an opportunity for citizens to feel closer to the meaning of creation.
