고양특례시가 제107주년 3·1절을 맞아 1일 오전 고양시 문예회관 체육관에서 순국선열들의 애국정신을 계승하고 독립운동의 역사적 의의를 되새기는 기념식을 거행했다.

이날 행사에는 이동환 고양특례시장을 비롯해 이병부 광복회 고양시지회장, 보훈·안보 단체장, 광복회원 등 300여 명이 참석해 자리를 빛냈다. 

기념식은 국민의례를 시작으로 ▲3·1운동 경과보고 ▲독립선언서 낭독 ▲독립유공자 표창 ▲기념사 ▲3·1절 노래 제창 ▲만세삼창 순으로 엄숙하고 격조 있게 진행됐다.

이동환 시장은 기념사를 통해 3·1운동의 정신이 오늘날 대한민국 번영의 기틀이 되었음을 역설하며, 특히 고양시만의 고유한 독립운동 역사를 높이 평가했다.

이 시장은 “육로가 막히자 물길을 틔워 행주나루터 배 위에서 태극기를 흔들었던 ‘선상(船上) 만세운동’은 세계 독립운동사에서도 유례를 찾기 힘든 고양만의 위대한 유산”이라며 자긍심을 드러냈다.
