파주시가 청소년 활동 공간 확충을 위해 '운정청소년문화의집'을 '운정청소년센터'로 확대 개관한다.

시는 운정 권역 인구 증가에 비해 부족했던 청소년시설을 보강하고 쾌적한 활동 환경을 제공하기 위해 이번 확대 개관을 추진했다고 6일 밝혔다.

기존 건물 2층만 사용하던 운정청소년문화의집은 4층과 7층까지 운영 공간을 넓혀 활용도가 크게 높아질 전망이다.

새롭게 문을 여는 운정청소년센터는 다목적 강의실, 춤 연습실, 요리 연습실, 합주실, 인공지능(AI) 체험실 등 다양한 시설을 갖췄다. 

청소년들은 이곳에서 문화·예술·체험·여가 활동을 한 공간에서 폭넓게 경험할 수 있게 된다.

특히 같은 건물에 있는 '청소년상담복지센터'와 연계를 강화해 청소년 활동과 상담을 아우르는 체계적인 지원 시스템을 구축할 계획이다.

김지숙 청년청소년과장은 "이번 확대 개관으로 청소년들이 공간 제약 없이 더 나은 환경에서 폭넓은 경험을 쌓을 수 있게 돼 매우 뜻깊다"며 "앞으로도 지역 청소년의 참여와 성장을 중심에 둔 공간으로 운영하겠다"고 말했다.

한편 운정청소년센터 확대 개관식은 오는 24일 열리며, 같은 날 청소년 미래 역량 강화를 위한 '미래상상 AI 페스타' 축제도 함께 진행된다.
