고양특례시가 도심항공교통(UAM) 산업을 미래 성장동력으로 육성하기 위한 구체적인 청사진을 마련하고 본격적인 행보에 나섰다.

고양특례시는 5일 시청 대회의실에서 'UAM 산업 육성방안 연구용역' 최종보고회를 개최했다. 

이날 행사에는 이동환 고양특례시장을 비롯해 대한항공, 포스코, 항공안전기술원, 한국항공우주산업 등 UAM 관련 산학 전문가와 관계자 20여 명이 참석해 고양시의 UAM 산업 발전 방향을 논의했다.

이번 연구용역은 국토교통부가 추진 중인 UAM 수도권 실증사업과 연계해 고양시의 중장기 산업육성 및 기업유치 전략을 마련하기 위해 진행됐다.

연구용역을 수행한 한국항공대학교와 와이젠글로벌 연구진은 UAM 산업의 국내외 현황과 사례 분석, 수도권 및 고양시의 단계별 목표시장 평가, 사회적 수용성 조사 및 대응방안 등을 종합적으로 제시했다.

특히 주목할 만한 점은 구체적인 실행 전략이 담겼다는 것이다. 

UAM 산업육성 및 기업유치를 위한 단계별 로드맵을 비롯해 UAM 실증단지 인근 MRO(정비·유지·보수) 단지 조성 가능성, 유치 가능 기업 발굴 방안 등이 구체적으로 제안됐다.

이동환 고양특례시장은 "도심항공교통(UAM)은 단순한 교통수단이 아니라 교통체계와 도시 구조를 동시에 바꿀 수 있는 미래 항공모빌리티 산업"이라고 강조했다.

이어 "킨텍스-김포공항 UAM 실증을 계기로 버티포트 입지와 교통연계, 산업·연구 클러스터 조성 등 중장기 전략을 본격적으로 추진하겠다"며 UAM 산업 거점도시로의 도약 의지를 분명히 했다.

고양시는 이번 보고회 결과를 바탕으로 연구용역을 마무리하고, 킨텍스 인근 대화동 2707번지에 국토교통부가 착공을 추진 중인 UAM 버티포트를 중심으로 후속 조치를 단계적으로 추진할 계획이다.

시는 앞으로 △UAM 실증사업 준비 △관련 산업 육성을 위한 중장기 로드맵 구체화 △기업유치 등을 통해 UAM 산업의 거점도시로 자리매김한다는 목표다.

On the 5th, Goyang Special City held the final report session for the "UAM Industry Fostering Plan Research Service" in the City Hall conference room.
