경의중앙선 운정역 일원에 들어서는 대단위 쇼핑센터 '스타필드 빌리지 운정'이 오는 5일 정식 개장을 앞두고 있다. 

3일 임시 개장에 이어 본격적인 운영에 들어가는 만큼, 파주시가 예상되는 교통 혼잡을 막기 위한 선제적 대책 마련에 나섰다.

파주시는 1일 올해 3월부터 스타필드 빌리지 운정 입점을 고려해 가람도서관 교차로를 중심으로 분야별 개선 대책을 수립했다고 밝혔다.

힐스테이트더운정 준공 시기인 8월까지 단계적으로 교통 인프라를 정비해왔다.

주요 개선 내용으로는 좌회전·우회전 차로 추가, 차로 운영계획 변경, 교통섬·우회전 전용 신호·색깔유도선 설치 등이 포함됐다. 

또한 신호·과속 및 불법 주정차 단속 장비를 신설해 교통 흐름을 원활하게 관리할 계획이다.

스타필드 개장 시 주차 배회 차량으로 인한 혼잡이 우려됨에 따라, 파주시는 가람도서관 맞은편 의료용지 부지 2만1603㎡에 864면 규모의 임시주차장을 조성했다.

주차장 입출차 시간을 단축하기 위해 주차장 전용 진입 차로도 개장 전까지 추가 설치할 예정이다. 

이를 통해 쇼핑센터 주차장 포화 시 대안 주차 공간을 제공함으로써 주변 도로의 정체를 완화한다는 방침이다.

파주시는 3일 임시 개장일부터 현장 교통상황반을 투입해 실시간 점검에 들어간다. 

교통상황반은 평일 1개조 2명, 주말 2개조 3명으로 운영되며, 시 직원이 현장에 상주해 교통 전반을 관리한다.

점검 항목은 ▲주변 도로 소통 상황 ▲주차 잔여 면수 ▲주차장 입출차 현황 ▲안전사고 위험요인 ▲도로공사 현황 등이다. 파주경찰서, 스타필드 빌리지 운정 등 유관기관과 비상연락 체계도 구축해 혼잡 및 돌발 상황에 신속히 대응할 방침이다.
