파주시가 율곡 이이 선생의 본향에서 추진 중인 '율곡문화진흥원' 설립에 속도를 내고 있다.

파주시는 지난 12일 율곡 종중 관계자들과 간담회를 열고 진흥원 설립 추진 방향을 공유했다고 17일 밝혔다.

이날 간담회에는 덕수 이씨 찬성공파 종회장과 율곡 15대 종손 등 율곡 종중 주요 인사들이 참석했다.

참석자들은 율곡 선생의 학문과 정신을 현대적으로 계승·발전시키려는 취지에 공감하며, 진흥원 설립의 필요성과 추진 경과, 향후 계획에 대해 심도 있게 논의했다.

특히 율곡 종중의 관심과 지원 요청 사항에 대해서도 의견을 나눴다.

유초자 파주시 문화예술과장은 "율곡문화진흥원은 율곡 선생의 학문적 가치와 철학을 계승하고, 나아가 문화도시 파주의 핵심 거점이 될 중요한 사업"이라며 "종중의 적극적인 협력을 부탁드린다"고 말했다.

이에 율곡 종중 측은 "파주시가 율곡 이이 선생을 기리는 사업을 추진하는 것을 환영한다"며 "향후 종중 차원에서도 적극적으로 협조하겠다"고 화답했다.
