일산동부경찰서는 행락철을 맞아 교통사고 예방을 위해 지난 10일 배달 오토바이와 PM(개인형 이동장치) 운행이 많은 일산동구 웨스턴돔 인근에서 PM·이륜차 등 두바퀴차의 안전수칙 및 교통법규 위반행위 단속과 계도를 병행하며 교통안전 활동을 전개했다.

이날 단속은 한국교통안전공단 및 일산 동구청과 합동으로 실시되었다.

일산동부 관내 두바퀴차 사고는 감소 추세에 있으나, 최근 전국적으로 연이은 PM 사고 발생 및 비난 여론 확산으로 사고 발생 시 중대한 결과 발생이 예견되는 두바퀴차의 안전한 교통문화를 확보하기 위해 안전활동을 실시했다.

이번 합동단속으로 이륜차 통고처분 2건, 번호판 등 자동차관리법 안전기준 위반 13건 등 총 15건을 적발했다.

강찬구 일산동부경찰서장은 “PM 및 이륜차 등 두바퀴차는 사고 위험이 매우 높고, 사고 발생 시 대형 사고 위험이 크기 때문에 법규 준수하여 안전하게 운행하는 것이 최우선이다”라고 말하며, “두바퀴차 사고 근절을 위한 지속적인 단속과 홍보로 안전한 교통문화를 조성하겠다”고 덧붙였다.
