파주시는 북부지역의 신규 관광자원 발굴과 관광자원 간 연계 방안을 구상하기 위해 ‘관광활성화 기본계획 수립 용역’을 본격 추진한다고 12일 밝혔다.

시는 이번 용역 추진을 위해 2025년 제2회 추가경정예산에 용역비 2억 원을 확보했으며, 지난 10일 착수보고회를 열고 본격적인 연구에 착수했다. 용역은 2026년 8월 완료를 목표로 진행된다.

이번 용역은 2025년을 기준연도로 향후 5년간의 파주시 관광 발전 방향을 제시하는 것을 목표로 한다. 

시는 관광여건 분석을 바탕으로 주요 계획 과제를 도출하고, 파주시 관광의 기본 구상과 임진강 주변 추진사업의 연계·활용 방안을 마련해 지역 특색을 살린 관광자원화 전략을 수립할 계획이다.

특히 ▲임진각 내 노후 평화랜드 부지 활용 타당성 조사 ▲통일동산 일원 가족 아트캠핑 평화빌리지 조성사업의 향후 운영방안 등을 추가 과제로 포함해, 북부지역 관광의 종합적 발전 방향을 모색한다.

이날 착수보고회에서는 과업 추진 배경과 필요성, 관광환경 분석, 추진전략 및 관광진흥계획 등이 발표됐다. 

용역 수행기관인 ㈜삼안과 ㈔한국관광개발연구원은 파주시 북부지역 관광의 종합 발전전략, 단계별 세부실행계획, 관광콘텐츠 개발방향 등을 제시하며 향후 5년간의 관광 비전과 전략을 설명했다.

최병갑 파주시 부시장은 “이번 관광활성화 기본계획 수립은 파주 북부지역 관광의 지속 가능한 발전을 위한 청사진을 마련하는 첫걸음”이라며 “파주 관광이 새로운 도약을 이룰 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
