파주시가 추진한 ‘접경지역 주민자생적 마을활력사업’의 일환인 ‘월롱역세권 마을활력발전소 조성사업’이 결실을 맺었다.

시는 지난 10일 ‘월롱다락카페 및 마을방앗간’ 개소식을 열고 침체된 마을 경제를 되살릴 주민 중심형 지역활성화 모델의 본격 가동을 알렸다.

이번 사업을 통해 기존 건물을 새 단장해 1층은 마을방앗간을 유지하고, 2층은 카페 공간으로 조성해 고소한 참기름 냄새와 커피향이 어우러지는 ‘월롱다락카페 및 마을방앗간’으로 재탄생시켰다.

이를 통해 마을 주민들은 기존 방앗간의 수익 외에도 카페 운영을 통한 추가 수익을 창출하며 지역 내 안정적인 경제활동 기반을 확보하게 됐다.

특히 마을운영위원회가 중심이 되어 가공과 판매의 전 과정을 직접 운영하고, 수익을 마을기금으로 환원하는 구조를 마련해 지속 가능한 자립모델로 평가받고 있다.

시는 이번 사업을 통해 행정이 주도하던 기존 방식에서 벗어나 ‘주민이 중심이 되고 행정은 든든한 조력자가 되는’ 새로운 지역발전 모델을 제시했다는 점에서 큰 의미를 두고 있다.
