일산동부경찰서는 21일 일산동구 웨스턴돔 앞 도로에서 이륜차와 개인형 이동장치(PM) 등 두바퀴차의 고위험·고비난 위반행위로 인한 사고 예방과 반칙운전 근절을 위한 단속 및 계도 활동을 벌였다.

이날 단속과 캠페인은 교통안전 특별경보 기간(10월 15일~31일)에 맞춰 한국교통안전공단과 합동으로 실시됐다.

일산동부경찰서에 따르면 관내 두바퀴차 교통사고는 감소 추세지만, 최근 경기북부 지역에서 잇따라 사망사고가 발생함에 따라 사고 발생 시 중대한 피해가 우려되는 만큼 안전한 교통문화 확산을 위해 이번 활동을 추진했다.

또한 도로 위 반칙운전 근절을 위한 유관기관 합동 캠페인도 병행해 교통법규 준수와 안전운전의 중요성을 홍보했다.

이번 단속 결과 불법 부착장치 운행 2건, 번호판 등 자동차관리법 안전기준 위반 16건 등 총 18건의 위반 사례가 적발됐다.

강찬구 일산동부경찰서장은 “두바퀴차의 고위험·고비난 위반행위는 대형사고와 돌이킬 수 없는 피해를 초래할 수 있다”며 “운전자 스스로 법규를 지키는 성숙한 교통문화가 필요하다”고 강조했으며 이어 “앞으로도 지속적인 단속과 홍보를 통해 안전한 교통환경을 조성하겠다”고 덧붙였다.
