■ '해움·새들' 중심 문화 생태계 확장, 예술과 시민을 잇는 문화 허브로

고양600년기념전시관과 신평군막사를 리모델링하여 개관한 예술창작공간 '해움'과 '새들'은 지역 문화 허브로 확고히 자리매김했다.

이 공간들은 매년 13명의 시각예술인에게 창작 공간을 제공하며 비평 워크숍, 기획 전시 등을 통해 예술인 역량 강화를 지원하고 있다. 

2022년 7월 개관 이후 현재까지 30여 명의 신진 예술인이 배출되었으며, 올해는 3기 입주 작가들이 활발하게 활동 중이다.

특히, 올해 처음으로 개최된 '해움 전시 정기대관 공모'는 시민 누구나 정식 전시장에서 작품을 선보일 수 있도록 전시장의 문턱을 낮췄다.

공모 선정작인 신진 도예가 안형 작가의 《케이크와 굴러떨어진 사과》(10월 15일~22일)와 김최미 작가의 《side cabinet》(10월 14일~22일) 전시가 10월 문화의 날과 함께 시민들의 문화 향유 기회를 넓히고 있다.

입주 작가들은 지역 축제와 연계한 전시뿐 아니라 지역사회와도 활발히 협업하고 있다. 

강수빈 작가는 노인복지관 미술 활동으로 어르신들의 사회적 고립 완화에 기여했으며, 권재현·리혁종 작가는 공원 조성 폐목재를 재활용해 조형물과 휴게시설을 제작했다. 

한석영 작가는 신평동 어르신들의 구술을 바탕으로 퍼포먼스를 선보여 지역의 기억을 예술로 기록하는 등 예술을 통한 지역 사회 기여 활동이 눈에 띈다.

시민 참여 프로그램도 활성화되어 중장년 대상 ‘해움 전시해설사 양성 프로그램’을 통해 전문 도슨트 15명이 배출되어 미술 현장에서 활동하고 있으며, 새들에서 진행하는 ‘길 위의 인문학’은 올해 《예술로 읽는 로컬》을 주제로 강연, 체험, 탐방을 결합한 참여형 프로그램으로 운영된다.

또한 예술가의 작업실을 개방하는 ‘오픈 스튜디오’와 ‘청년 인턴십’은 시민들이 예술 현장을 직접 경험하며 예술의 주체로 성장하는 기회를 제공한다. 

오는 11월에도 입주 작가들의 ‘오픈 스튜디오’가 예정되어 있다.

■ 맞춤형 창작 지원 및 다각적 협업으로 예술단체 자립 기반 강화

고양시는 개인 예술인뿐만 아니라 지역 예술단체의 자립과 성장을 위한 지원 체계도 강화했다. 

2022년부터 예술단체별 특성을 고려한 맞춤형 창작 지원으로 전환하며 공공과 민간이 협력하는 구조를 마련했다.

그 결과 고양연극협회의 창작 뮤지컬 《행주대첩》이 '2025년 경기북부 문화자원 창작공연 지원사업'에 선정되어 도비 4천만 원(총사업비 8천만 원)을 확보하는 성과를 거두었다.
