고양특례시가 오는 25일 첫차부터 마을버스 요금을 인상한다.

시는 요금 인상 배경에 대해 운송원가 상승과 이용객 감소로 마을버스 운수업체의 경영 여건이 지속적으로 악화되고 있다고 설명했다.

특히 수도권 통합환승할인제 구조상 마을버스는 수익 배분에서 불리한 위치에 있어, 요금이 동결될 경우 적자가 더욱 심화될 수밖에 없는 상황이라고 밝혔다.

시 관계자는 "수도권 통합환승할인제가 적용돼 시민들의 교통비 추가 부담은 크지 않을 것"이라고 강조했다.

또한 "K-패스와 기후동행카드 및 어린이·청소년 교통비 지원을 활용하면 교통비 절감 효과를 높일 수 있다"고 안내했다.

이어 "안정적인 대중교통 운영으로 시민 편의를 증진시키기 위해 최선을 다하겠다"고 덧붙였다.
