고양도시관리공사가 민족 대명절 추석을 맞아 지역사회 소외계층과 따뜻한 정을 나누는 뜻깊은 시간을 가졌다.

공사는 23일 사내 봉사단인 시민섬김봉사단 주관으로 '추석 맞이 나눔행사'를 진행했다고 발표했다.

이번 나눔 행사는 관내 노인종합복지관(덕양, 대화, 일산)의 추천을 받은 경제적으로 어려운 홀몸 어르신 20가정을 직접 방문하는 방식으로 진행됐다.

봉사단원들은 각 가정을 찾아 어르신들의 안부를 묻고, 정성스럽게 준비한 선물과 성금을 전달하며 명절의 따뜻한 정을 나눴다.

선물을 받은 일산동의 한 어르신은 "추석이 다가와도 마음이 허전했는데 이렇게 직접 찾아와 선물까지 주셔서 너무 감사하다"며 "풍성한 마음으로 명절을 보낼 수 있을 것 같다"고 감사의 마음을 전했다.

고양도시관리공사는 이번 명절 나눔 행사 외에도 다양한 사회공헌 활동을 지속해왔다. 

취약 독거노인 결연, 거동 불편 어르신 나들이 지원, 임직원 단체 헌혈, 배식봉사, 사랑의 김장김치 나눔봉사 등을 꾸준히 실천하고 있다.

특히 올해는 폭우로 인한 피해를 입은 관내 지역 수해복구 현장에도 적극 참여하는 등 지역사회를 위한 다각적인 봉사활동을 전개했다.

강승필 사장은 "추석을 맞아 우리 주변의 소외된 이웃들과 함께 명절의 기쁨을 나눌 수 있어 뜻깊다"며 "앞으로도 지역사회의 든든한 동반자로서 나눔과 봉사를 통해 모두가 행복한 고양시를 만들어가는 데 최선을 다하겠다"고 말했다.

공사 관계자는 "이번 나눔행사를 통해 명절을 맞아 외롭고 쓸쓸할 수 있는 홀몸 어르신들께 작은 위로와 희망이 되었기를 바란다"며 "지역사회와 함께 성장하는 공기업으로서의 사회적 책임을 다하겠다"고 덧붙였다.
