고양도시관리공사가 고양시 생활폐기물 소각시설의 안전관리 체계 강화에 나섰다.

공사는 지난 10일 고양환경에너지시설에서 일산소방서와 합동으로 화재안전컨설팅을 실시했다고 17일 발표했다.

이번 컨설팅은 소각시설의 안전성을 한층 더 강화하기 위한 조치로, 소방·안전 관리체계 전반을 점검하고 분진폭발 등 잠재적 위험요인을 사전에 파악해 사고를 예방하는 데 목적이 있다.

컨설팅에는 일산소방서장을 포함한 소방서 관계자 7명과 고양환경에너지시설 직원들이 참석했다. 

점검은 소각시설 운영현황 보고를 시작으로 폐기물 저장조 등 주요 현장 점검, 제어실 모니터링 체계 확인 순으로 체계적으로 진행됐다.

점검 결과 소방·안전 관리 상태는 전반적으로 적정 수준을 유지하고 있는 것으로 확인됐다.

특히 올해 5월 폐기물 저장조에 신설된 전동식 방수총은 화재 대응력 제고 측면에서 우수한 설치 사례로 평가받았다. 

분진폭발이 우려되는 장소에 대한 점검에서도 특별한 이상은 발견되지 않았다.

강승필 사장은 "이번 화재안전컨설팅을 통해 소각시설의 안전관리 수준을 객관적으로 점검하고 개선 방향을 공유할 수 있는 뜻깊은 시간이었다"며 "앞으로도 유관기관과의 긴밀한 협력을 통해 안전관리 체계를 지속적으로 강화하고, 시민들이 안심할 수 있는 환경을 조성하는 데 최선을 다하겠다"고 밝혔다.

한편 고양도시관리공사와 일산소방서는 이번 컨설팅을 계기로 향후에도 정기적인 합동점검을 실시하고 긴밀한 협력 체계를 구축해 나가기로 했다. 

이를 통해 소각시설의 안전성을 더욱 강화하고 시민들의 안전을 보장할 수 있는 대응체계를 완비해 나갈 계획이다.
