일산동부경찰서는 10일 일산동구 문화광장 앞 도로에서 이륜차와 개인형 이동장치(PM), 자전거 등 두바퀴차의 고위험·고비난 위반행위 근절과 사고 예방을 위한 합동 단속과 교통안전 캠페인을 전개했다.

이번 활동은 한국교통안전공단, 일산동구청 교통행정과·환경녹지과와 함께 진행됐다.

일산동부 관내 두바퀴차 교통사고는 감소 추세를 보이고 있지만, 지난해에만 사망사고가 5건 발생했고 최근 경기북부 지역에서 이륜차 교통사망사고가 집중되고 있다. 

이에 경찰은 이용자들에게 안전운전 수칙과 유의사항을 안내하며 사고 예방을 위한 계도 활동을 병행했다.

또한 도로 위 기초질서 위반인 ‘반칙행위’를 체계적으로 개선하기 위해 유관기관 합동 캠페인과 간담회도 열었다.

이번 단속을 통해 소음기 불법 튜닝 1건, 번호판 등 자동차관리법 안전기준 위반 8건 등 총 9건이 적발됐다.

강찬구 일산동부경찰서장은 “두바퀴차 교통법규 위반은 보행자뿐만 아니라 차량과의 사고 위험도 높아 중대한 결과로 이어질 수 있다”며 “이용자의 자발적인 법규 준수가 절실하다”고 강조했다.

이어 “지속적인 단속과 홍보를 통해 시민들이 도로 위에서 안전하고 평온한 일상을 누릴 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
