고양특례시가 2025년 2기분(9월) 환경개선부담금으로 총 12,382건, 9억원 규모를 부과한다고 12일 발표했다.

환경개선부담금은 주요 대기오염원인 2012년 7월 이전에 출고된 경유 자동차를 대상으로 하는 제도다. 

자발적인 환경오염 물질 배출 저감을 유도하고 환경개선을 위한 안정적인 재원을 조달하기 위해 연 2회(3월, 9월) 부과되고 있다.

이번에 부과되는 2기분 환경개선부담금은 올해 1월부터 6월까지의 경유자동차 사용분에 대한 것으로, 자동차 배기량을 기준으로 지역 및 차령 등을 종합적으로 고려해 산정됐다. 

부과기간 중 자동차를 처분하거나 소유자가 변경된 경우에는 실제 소유기간에 따라 일할 계산되어 부과된다.

납부기간은 9월 16일부터 9월 30일까지로, 시는 해당 차량 소유자들에게 기한 내 납부를 당부했다. 

만약 납부기한을 넘길 경우 3%의 가산금이 추가로 부과되며, 지속적으로 체납할 경우에는 재산압류 등의 강제징수 조치를 받을 수 있어 주의가 필요하다.

환경개선부담금 납부는 가까운 금융기관을 직접 방문하거나, 인터넷뱅킹, 전용가상계좌, 인터넷지로, 위택스(Wetax) 등 다양한 방법을 통해 가능하다.

고양시 관계자는 "환경개선부담금은 대기환경 개선을 위한 중요한 재원으로 활용되고 있다"며 "차량 소유자들의 적극적인 협조를 통해 기한 내 납부가 이뤄지기를 바란다"고 말했다.
