고양특례시가 광역버스 준공영제 확대에 속도를 내고 있다. 

국토교통부 대도시권광역교통위원회(대광위)가 추진하는 2025년도 광역버스 준공영제 사업에 1200번과 1500번 노선이 새롭게 선정됐다고 10일 발표했다.

이로써 고양시는 민선 8기 출범 이후 지속적으로 추진해온 준공영제 확대 정책의 가시적 성과를 거두게 됐다. 

시는 앞서 1000번, M7119번, M7731번, M7412번, 7602번 등 5개 노선을 준공영제에 편입한 바 있으며, 이번에 2개 노선이 추가되면서 총 7개 노선 140여 대의 광역버스를 안정적으로 운영할 수 있는 기반을 마련했다.

이번에 선정된 노선들은 고양시민의 주요 이동경로를 담당하는 핵심 노선들이다. 

1200번은 덕이지구에서 출발해 탄현중산과 마두역을 거쳐 서울역 숭례문까지 운행하는 노선으로, 일산 외곽 지역에서 GTX-A노선 대곡역과의 연계는 물론 서울 도심까지 직접 연결하는 중요한 교통축 역할을 한다.

1500번 노선은 교하에서 운정, 일산동·서구를 거쳐 영등포까지 연결하는 서남권 방면의 대표적인 광역버스다. 

특히 이 노선은 파주와 고양 시민들이 서울 서남권으로 출퇴근할 때 주로 이용하는 핵심 노선으로, 준공영제 전환을 통해 두 지역 시민들의 교통편의가 크게 향상될 것으로 기대된다.
