고양특례시가 시민들의 성숙한 반려동물 문화 정착을 위해 나섰다.

이동환 고양특례시장은 9일 "반려동물과의 건강한 공존 문화 조성과 시민들의 반려동물 관련 지식 증진을 위해 '2025년 고양시 반려동물 문화교실' 수강생을 모집한다"고 발표했다.

이번 문화교실의 가장 큰 특징은 반려동물을 키우는 시민뿐만 아니라 반려동물에 관심 있는 모든 고양시민이 참여할 수 있는 열린 교육 프로그램이라는 점이다. 

반려인과 비반려인이 함께 배우며 서로를 이해할 수 있는 소통의 장을 마련한 것이다.

교육은 고양특례시 동물교감치유센터(일산서구 경의로 766)에서 전문 강사진이 직접 진행한다. 

주요 프로그램으로는 ▲펫티켓 산책교실 ▲반려견 미용교실 ▲펫푸드 교실 ▲분리불안 세미나 ▲동물교감치유 강의 등이 요일별·시간대별로 다양하게 운영된다.

특히 실생활에 바로 적용할 수 있는 실용적인 내용들로 구성되어 반려동물을 처음 키우는 초보 반려인부터 경험이 많은 반려인까지 모두에게 유용한 정보를 제공할 예정이다.

동물교감치유센터에서의 정규 교육 외에도, 시는 관내 초등학교와 노인종합복지관 등을 직접 방문하는 찾아가는 교육도 병행한다.

초등학생을 대상으로는 '같이 걷는 가치'라는 이름의 생명존중교육을 통해 어린이들이 동물에 대한 올바른 인식을 기를 수 있도록 돕는다. 

또한 시니어를 위한 교감치유 프로그램도 운영해 세대별 특성에 맞는 맞춤형 교육을 제공한다는 계획이다.

참여를 희망하는 시민들은 홍보 포스터의 QR코드를 스캔하여 전용 신청 페이지에 접속해 선착순으로 신청할 수 있다. 

별도의 복잡한 절차 없이 간편하게 참여 신청이 가능하도록 시스템을 구축했다.

시 관계자는 "최근 반려동물 인구가 급속히 증가하면서 성숙한 반려문화 정착이 무엇보다 중요한 시점"이라며 "이번 문화교실이 반려인뿐 아니라 비반려인도 함께 배우고 서로를 배려하고 이해할 수 있는 소중한 계기가 되길 바란다"고 말했다.

한편 고양특례시는 반려동물 관련 정책을 지속적으로 확대해나가고 있다. 

현재 반려동물 등록 활성화를 위한 비문등록 시범사업을 통해 무료 외장형 등록 서비스를 제공하는 등 다양한 반려동물 친화 정책을 추진 중이다.
