DMZ국제다큐멘터리영화제후원회는는 25일 김포 애기봉평화생태공원과 파주 캠프그리브스를 방문하는 기자단 DMZ 팸투어를 개최했다.

첫 방문지는 김포 최대 평화관광지인 애기봉평화생태공원이다.

애기봉은 남·북 공동 이용수역에 위치해 평화와 화합의 상징으로 꼽힌다. 

한반도 분단의 아픔을 보여주는 154고지 전투 현장인 이곳은 1978년 설치됐던 전망대를 철거하고 평화생태전시관, 조강전망대, 생태탐방로 등으로 새롭게 단장했다.  

이어 방문한 캠프그리브스는 파주 민간인 통제구역 내에 있다. 

한국전쟁 정전협정 이후 50여 년간 미 2사단 506보병대대가 주둔했으며, 2007년 한국 정부에 반환된 역사적 장소다.

DMZ 남방한계선과 불과 2㎞ 떨어진 이곳에서 기자단은 평화와 안보의 중요성을 다시 한번 되새겼다.  

오준환 DMZ국제다큐멘터리영화제후원회장은 기자단에  감사의 뜻을 전하며 이번 팸투어가 지구 생명과 기후재난 문제 해결 등 평화에 한 걸음 더 다가가는 계기가 되길 바란다고 말했다.  

DMZ국제다큐멘터리영화제는 냉전체제 재편 속 한반도 전쟁의 아픔과 평화의 의미를 증언하는 아시아 대표 다큐멘터리 축제이며, 전 지구적 문제를 진단하고 다큐멘터리 예술의 본질을 탐구하는 데 집중하며, 창작자들의 새로운 미학적 실험과 도전을 이어간다.  

이번 팸투어는 DMZ의 평화적 가치를 알리고 DMZ국제다큐멘터리영화제에 대한 관심을 높이는 중요한 행사로 평가받고 있다.[파주=빅정호 기자]
