일산동부경찰서는 4일 한류초등학교 앞에서 한국도로교통공단 경기북부본부, 일산동구청 교통행정과, 고양교육지원청 학교행정지원과, 모범운전자회, 녹색어머니회, 교직원, 학생 등 30여 명과 함께 ‘자전거·PM 안전하게 타기’ 캠페인과 ‘도로 위 교통질서 확립을 위한’ 유관기관 간담회를 개최했다.

이번 캠페인은 최근 라이딩 인구 증가와 부실한 개인형 이동장치(PM) 사용 인증 절차로 청소년 무면허 운전과 사고가 잇따르고 있어 안전한 교통환경을 만들기 위해 마련됐다.

이날 간담회에서는 허위 앰뷸런스 운행 등 기초질서를 위반하는 ‘반칙행위’를 개선하기 위한 계획도 논의됐다. 

경찰은 7~8월 집중 홍보와 계도를 거쳐 9~12월 집중 단속에 나설 방침이다.

강찬구 일산동부경찰서장은 “자전거와 PM 사고를 막기 위해서는 보도 침범 금지, 안전장구 착용, 음주운전 금지, 과속 금지 등 4대 안전수칙 준수가 중요하다”며 “국민이 근절을 바라는 새치기 유턴, 꼬리물기, 끼어들기, 비긴급 구급차 법규 위반, 버스전용차로 위반 등 5대 반칙운전에 대한 단속과 홍보를 강화해 교통안전 체감도를 높이고 선진교통문화를 만들겠다”고 밝혔다.[고양=박정호 기자]
