고양도시관리공사(사장 강승필)가 올여름 폭염에 대비해 시민 누구나 이용할 수 있는 무더위 쉼터를 운영한다고 2일 발표했다.

공사는 오는 7월 14일부터 9월 14일까지 토당문화플랫폼과 일산문화예술창작소 두 곳에서 무더위 쉼터를 운영할 예정이라고 밝혔다.

 운영시간은 평일과 주말(공휴일 제외) 오전 9시부터 오후 6시까지다.

이번 무더위 쉼터는 고양시민과 이동 노동자 등 지역사회 구성원이면 누구나 무료로 이용할 수 있다.

옛 능곡역을 리모델링한 토당문화플랫폼과 옛 농협창고를 개조한 일산문화예술창작소 내 휴게공간에서 더위에 지친 어르신과 어린이, 시민들이 전시 관람과 함께 잠시 휴식을 취할 수 있도록 했다.

특히 업무 특성상 이동이 잦은 집배원, 택배기사, 배달 라이더, 가스 검침원 등 이동 노동자들의 온열질환 예방을 위해 시원한 냉수와 커피, 아이스티 등 다양한 음료를 무료로 제공한다는 계획이다.

강승필 사장은 "무더운 여름에 온열질환을 예방하고, 시민이 쉬어갈 수 있는 시설을 효과적으로 알리기 위해 이와 같은 쉼터를 준비했다"며 "무더위 쉼터와 같이 지역과 시민이 함께 숨 쉬는 상생 플랫폼을 더욱 확산해 나가겠다"고 말했다.

한편, 두 쉼터 모두 문화전시공간으로 활용되고 있어 시민들이 더위를 피하면서 동시에 문화생활도 즐길 수 있는 것이 특징이다. 

공사 측은 폭염이 지속되는 여름철 동안 시민들의 적극적인 이용을 당부했다.

The corporation announced that it will operate heat shelters at two locations, Todang Culture Platform and Ilsan Culture and Arts Creation Center, from July 14 to September 14.

Operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and weekends (excluding public holidays).

This heat shelter can be used free of charge by anyone in the community, including Goyang citizens and mobile workers.

The Todang Cultural Platform, which was remodeled from the old Neunggok Station, and the Ilsan Cultural Arts Creation Center, which was remodeled from the old Nonghyup warehouse, were designed to provide seniors, children, and citizens who are exhausted from the heat with a break while viewing the exhibition.

In particular, the plan is to provide free cool cold water, coffee, iced tea, and other beverages to mobile workers who move frequently due to the nature of their work to prevent heat-related illnesses.
