고양특례시의 대표적인 친환경 시설인 고양바이오매스에너지시설이 국제적인 주목을 받고 있다. 

UNESCO I-WSSM(국제 물 보안 및 지속가능 관리)와 IDB(미주개발은행)가 공동 주최한 「중남미 물-자원순환 통합 컨설팅」사업의 일환으로, 중남미 각국의 환경 분야 고위급 관계자들이 이 시설을 방문했다고 30일 발표했다.

지난 27일 고양바이오매스에너지시설을 찾은 방문단은 페루 및 도미니카공화국 차관을 비롯해 미주개발은행 국장 등 총 15명으로 구성됐다. 

이들의 방문 목적은 고양특례시가 구축한 우수한 자원순환 시스템을 직접 살펴보고, 이를 중남미 지역의 지속가능한 환경정책 수립에 벤치마킹하기 위함이었다.

고양도시관리공사가 운영하는 고양바이오매스에너지시설은 음식물류 폐기물을 혐기성 소화 방식으로 처리하는 첨단 친환경 시설이다. 

이 시설의 가장 큰 특징은 폐기물 처리 과정에서 발생하는 바이오가스를 한국지역난방공사에 공급하고, 생산된 퇴비는 관내 농가에 무료로 제공하는 완전한 자원 재활용 체계를 갖추고 있다는 점이다.

이러한 통합적 접근 방식은 단순한 폐기물 처리를 넘어 에너지 생산과 농업 지원까지 아우르는 지속가능한 순환경제 모델을 실현하고 있어, 국제사회에서 모범 사례로 평가받고 있다.

방문단 측은 "고양특례시의 우수한 환경시설을 둘러볼 수 있도록 협조해준 고양특례시와 고양도시관리공사에 깊이 감사드린다"며 감사 인사를 전했다. 

또한 "고양바이오매스에너지시설의 선진 시스템이 중남미 국가에도 널리 알려져, 세계 바이오에너지 정책 발전에 기여하길 바란다"고 기대감을 나타냈다.

고양도시관리공사 강승필 사장은 "고양특례시의 환경정책과 친환경 인프라가 국제적으로 주목받고 있어 기쁘게 생각한다"며, "앞으로 이번 방문기관과의 업무협력 및 글로벌 지속가능발전목표(SDGs)에 부응하는 스마트한 환경기반시설 운영에 최선을 다하겠다"고 향후 계획을 밝혔다.

On the 30th, UNESCO announced that as part of the “Latin American Water-Resource Circulation Integrated Consulting” project co-hosted by I-WSSM (International Water Security and Sustainable Management) and IDB (Inter-American Development Bank), high-level environmental officials from each Latin American country visited the facility.

The delegation that visited Goyang Biomass Energy Facility on the 27th consisted of 15 people, including vice ministers from Peru and the Dominican Republic and the director of the Inter-American Development Bank.

The purpose of their visit was to directly examine the excellent resource circulation system established by Goyang Special City and to benchmark it for establishing sustainable environmental policies in the Latin American region.

The Goyang Biomass Energy Facility, operated by Goyang City Management Corporation, is an advanced eco-friendly facility that processes food waste using anaerobic digestion.

The biggest feature of this facility is that it has a complete resource recycling system that supplies biogas generated during the waste treatment process to Korea District Heating Corporation and provides the produced compost to local farmers free of charge.
