고양도시관리공사(사장 강승필)가 고양종합운동장에서 세계적 아티스트들의 대형 공연을 연이어 성공적으로 개최하며 공공체육시설 활용의 새로운 모델을 제시하고 있다고 25일 발표했다.

60만명 관객 몰린 세계적 공연들

공사에 따르면 작년부터 올해 6월까지 고양종합운동장을 찾은 누적 관객 수는 60만명에 육박한다. 

지난해 칸예 웨스트 내한공연과 지드래곤 월드투어 콘서트에 이어, 올해는 콜드플레이 내한공연에서 최초·최장·최다 관람객이라는 기록을 세웠다. 

최근에는 BTS 관련 행사까지 성공적으로 진행하며 세계가 주목하는 대형 공연장으로 자리매김했다.

"원팀 정신과 실시간 소통이 핵심"

공사는 단 한 건의 인파사고도 없이 대형행사를 성공적으로 운영할 수 있었던 비결로 '원팀 정신'과 '유관기관의 든든한 협력'을 꼽았다.

고양종합운동장은 행사 대관 운영 시 사전에 공연 내용을 전반적으로 검토하고, 건축·기계·전기·통신 등 분야별 실시간 실무회의를 통해 안전한 공연 환경 조성에 집중한다. 

해당 전문 분야 직원뿐만 아니라 경비, 미화 담당자까지 모든 구성원이 하나의 팀으로 움직인다.

특히 운동장 곳곳에서 문제상황을 발견하는 누구든지 즉시 담당자와 연결되어 실시간으로 소통하고 문제를 해결할 수 있는 체계를 구축했다. 

행사로 인한 소음 민원이 발생하기도 하지만, 주변 지역의 이해를 구하며 도시 이미지 제고를 위해 각자의 역할을 충실히 수행하고 있다.

공사는 일산서부경찰서와 일산소방서의 적극적인 지원이 대형행사 성공의 핵심 요소라고 강조했다.

일산서부경찰서 경비안보과와 교통과는 인파사고 예방을 위해 사전에 관람객 이동 구간과 인원을 파악하고, 인파 이동 및 교통 통제, 대테러 상황 등에 대비한다. 

일산소방서 재난대응과와 대화119안전센터는 특수효과로 인한 화재 예방과 관객 안전사고에 선제적으로 대응하고 있다.

이들 유관기관은 고양종합운동장팀과 함께 현장에서 또 다른 '원팀'을 이뤄 협력 지원에 나서고 있다.

강승필 사장은 "고양시의 정책사업을 성공리에 추진해 나가면서 유관기관들이 힘을 모아 움직인 숨은 공로가 있었기에 사고 없는 대형 행사들을 이어갈 수 있었다"고 감사를 표했다.
